This is the heart of WP as a writing and compositional tool. The writing experience encompasses the basic building blocks of the editor, the media experience, advanced tools like document outline, footnotes, etc, the writing flow itself (selection, keyboard movements, shortcuts, inline insertion, transforms), the surface area of collaborative features like block comments, and the overall publish flow.

The design editor refers to the page building capabilities of the block editor. It includes patterns, templates, pages, navigation, design tools, global styles and several of the layout and compositional blocks.
