Now that there is precedent for a left side persistent panel with the iteration on the inserter, I thought it would be a good time to try something similar with the block navigator.
Try the prototype.
The appeal of this to me is in the ability to have a persistent way of navigating blocks in complex scenarios. I find myself frustrated with the current block navigator in that it:
I see this side panel as a way to resolve those issues. Perhaps it could even remove the need for the breadcrumb bar at the bottom.
