I know about #355, but personally I would like to keep it on. My problem with it is that it's too bright, making the text on top slightly harder to read and makes it grab your attention too much:

I suggest reducing the opacity, so that it is still noticeable but not all in your face, like so:

That should also make it more on par with other modern chat apps, such as Discord.
