TOPIC

If we need remove ghost (SYSDB_GHOST, DB_GHOST) attribute
from group we use empty structure.

This doesn't mean that there is pointer to NULL but
it means that there is zero elements.
Ghost attribute is array not string.

IMO you can use mod_ctx->membel == NULL only once

IMO the code could be simplified a little bit more, something like:

My question in note is about which type of our CI I can use. It is in memberof plugin. I don't see any test for memberof plugin at all.

IIRC some parts of memberof pluging are testin in unit test
src/tests/sysdb-tests

But it should be possible to write integration tests as well.
It is not a IPA specific bug.

Look into src/tests/sysdb-tests.c, search for "tc_memberof". There is
already quite a few tests for the memberof plugin.

There is no reason. I just took patches from another branch. I am still seeking optimal workflow with GitHub.

I think all review requests were addressed, the code now looks good to me and just reverting the non-code changes make the tests fail.

Those changes are in generic LDAP code.
I plan to run some downstream test. I do not expect any failures
but I want to be sure :-)

At first I would like to inform that ticket: https://fedorahosted.org/sssd/ticket/3186 wasn't bug. This patch is valid for ldap provider too. (I tested again manually with reproducer.)

In my opinion, the test remove_user_from_nested_group() is variation on reproducer provided in this PR. So it tests our case.

If I run intg. tests without this PR:

test_ldap.py::test_remove_user_from_group FAILED
test_ldap.py::test_remove_user_from_nested_group FAILED

If I run intg. tests with this PR: they passed.

So I wanted to write a test for the memberof patch, but I couldn't reproduce the ticket #2940 even without the memberof patch. I tried exactly the steps in the ticket and it seemed to me that just applying the ldap provider patch solves the issue.

@celestian can you give me steps to reproduce the bug that the patch is solving? Then I can write a test..

While debugging rhbz#1396912 some deadlock on sssd_be was noticed[0] and it's been caused by the use of non async-signal-safe functions from the signal_handler (please, see man 7 signal for more info about which are the async-signal-safe functions that can be used). While debugging rhbz#1396912 some deadlock on sssd_be was noticed[0] and it's been caused by the use of non async-signal-safe functions from the signal_handler (please, see man 7 signal for more info about which are the async-signal-safe functions that can be used). The removal of those functions we lose some debug messages, which is the least of problems now. Also instead of re-setting the watchdog timeout in case of time-shift (please, see b8ceaeb for more info), let's just exit the let the monitor restart the process. A proper fix for the clock screw situation should be implemented on samba's side, by having tevent using monotonic (or boottime) clock. While debugging rhbz#1396912 a deadlock on sssd_be was noticed[0] and it's been caused by the use of non async-signal-safe functions from the signal_handler (please, see man 7 signal for more info about which are the async-signal-safe functions that can be used). In order to work this situation around a pipe has been added to the watchdog_ctx structure and, in case of clock screw, a single byte is written to this pipe (which is an async-signal-safe operation) and the logic currently done by the timer handler to reset the watchdog will be done inside the fd handler in a safe way. With this patch we ended up losing some debug messages as orderly_shutdown() has been replaced by _exit(). Personally I don't think is worth the trouble to try to log those messages properly in this specific case. It's really worth to mention that a proper fix the clock screw situation should be implemented on samba's side, by having tevent using monotonic (or boottime) clock. While debugging rhbz#1396912 a deadlock on sssd_be was noticed[0] and it's been caused by the use of non async-signal-safe functions from the signal_handler (please, see man 7 signal for more info about which are the async-signal-safe functions that can be used). In order to work this situation around a pipe has been added to the watchdog_ctx structure and, in case of clock screw, a single byte is written to this pipe (which is an async-signal-safe operation) and the logic currently done by the timer handler to reset the watchdog will be done inside the fd handler in a safe way. With this patch we ended up losing some debug messages as orderly_shutdown() has been replaced by _exit(1). Personally I don't think is worth the trouble to try to log those messages properly in this specific case. It's really worth to mention that a proper fix the clock screw situation should be implemented on samba's side, by having tevent using monotonic (or boottime) clock. While debugging rhbz#1396912 a deadlock on sssd_be was noticed[0] and it's been caused by the use of non async-signal-safe functions from the signal_handler (please, see man 7 signal for more info about which are the async-signal-safe functions that can be used). In order to work this situation around a pipe has been added to the watchdog_ctx structure and, in case of clock screw, a single byte is written to this pipe (which is an async-signal-safe operation) and the logic currently done by the timer handler to reset the watchdog will be done inside the fd handler in a safe way. With this patch we ended up losing some debug messages as orderly_shutdown() has been replaced by kill(-getpgrp(), SIGTERM). Personally I don't think is worth the trouble to try to log those messages properly in this specific case. It's really worth to mention that a proper fix the clock screw situation should be implemented on samba's side, by having tevent using monotonic (or boottime) clock. While debugging rhbz#1396912 a deadlock on sssd_be was noticed[0] and it's been caused by the use of non async-signal-safe functions from the signal_handler (please, see man 7 signal for more info about which are the async-signal-safe functions that can be used). In order to work this situation around a pipe has been added to the watchdog_ctx structure and, in case of clock screw, a single byte is written to this pipe (which is an async-signal-safe operation) and the logic currently done by the timer handler to reset the watchdog will be done inside the fd handler in a safe way. With this patch we ended up losing some debug messages as orderly_shutdown() has been replaced by kill(-getpgrp(), SIGTERM) (or _exit(1) considering the cases where setting up the process group during the server_setup() has failed). Personally I don't think is worth the trouble to try to log those messages properly in this specific case. It's really worth to mention that a proper fix the clock screw situation should be implemented on samba's side, by having tevent using monotonic (or boottime) clock. While debugging rhbz#1396912 a deadlock on sssd_be was noticed[0] and it's been caused by the use of non async-signal-safe functions from the signal_handler (please, see man 7 signal for more info about which are the async-signal-safe functions that can be used). In order to work this situation around a pipe has been added to the watchdog_ctx structure and, in case of clock screw, a single byte is written to this pipe (which is an async-signal-safe operation) and the logic currently done by the timer handler to reset the watchdog will be done inside the fd handler in a safe way. With this patch we ended up losing some debug messages as orderly_shutdown() has been replaced by kill(-getpgrp(), SIGTERM) (or _exit(1) considering the cases where setting up the process group during the server_setup() has failed). Personally I don't think is worth the trouble to try to log those messages properly in this specific case. It's really worth to mention that a proper fix the clock screw situation should be implemented on samba's side, by having tevent using monotonic (or boottime) clock. The function remove_duplicate_group_members might return EOK also in the middle of function but return parameter was not set with right data.
