Motivation for this change

Sending to staging to, well, help 'stage' it ;)
-- last bump there was some fallout for users
beyond myself using musl ("dozens of us"!!)
and hopefully this helps let them test.

FWIW I've been using ~3 commits before the release
for building many packages and so there shouldn't
be too many surprises :).

Even so, staging! :)
