Description of changes

Without this change it segfaults when trying to play any media:

  $ jellyfinmediaplayer
  Warning: Ignoring XDG_SESSION_TYPE=wayland on Gnome. Use QT_QPA_PLATFORM=wayland to run on Wayland anyway.
  libpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile
  Logging to /home/bf/.local/share/jellyfinmediaplayer/logs/jellyfinmediaplayer.log
  Cannot load libcuda.so.1
  Segmentation fault (core dumped)

The backtrace shows pipewire being at fault:

Standalone mpv doesn't segfault (when directly playing the underlying
media files). I don't know why.

I don't know. Doesn't it crash when using pipewire as well? (I use pulseaudio.)

Isn't pipewire opt-in? I'm on NixOS/GNOME, where pulseaudio is enabled by default. I think we should make the defaults work first.

(After a bit more testing.)

  • This patch seems necessary only when using hardware.pulseaudio.enable (so e.g. NixOS GNOME users need this).
  • If you run pipewire instead of pulseaudio, the pulseaudio emulation works fine. I tested with this config:
  # NixOS GNOME module enables pulseaudio, so we must turn it off.
  hardware.pulseaudio.enable = false;

  services.pipewire = {
    enable = true;
    alsa.enable = true;
    pulse.enable = true;  # enable pulseaudio server emulation
  };

I didn't test, but would guess this patch cause a regression if you run pipewire without pulse(audio) emulation.
