Ugh. Kind of looks like repo.maven.apache.org has a misconfigured ssl cert:

openssl s_client -connect repo.maven.apache.org:443
....
subject=/C=US/ST=MD/L=Fulton/O=Sonatype, Inc/CN=repo1.maven.org
....

(or go to https://repo.maven.apache.org directly and see chrome be unhappy). Looks like this has been reported already - not sure there's anything else we can do about it. @lesv do you want to just merge this in the meantime?
