You could solve the title problem while reworking everything, but to my mind this is almost completely unrelated. :-)
I always thought it made sense to have them as separate views to be able to quickly switch between them. That is to say, in your concept I think you'd want to be able to define presets (and maybe assign them to particular feeds or categories?). Even if the preset is just for "save how I have things set up right now so I can experiment more freely".
I imagine it can still be useful to collapse something even with expanded by default, but I don't know if people who use expanded by default do that in practice. |

I would like to develop a "Zen" mode, that hides a lot of button elements so the reader can focus on the articles. |
