Added papers confirmed to use Oceananigans that were missing from the "Papers and preprints using Oceananigans" section: - Allende et al. (2026) — ice-ocean interface melting dynamics - Middleton et al. (2025) — splitting ocean cyclone (Science Advances) - Pružina et al. (2025) — double-diffusive convection layer formation (JFM) - Pružina (2025) — staircase formation in diffusive convection (JFM) - Lee et al. (2025) — surface waves in a summertime lead (EGUsphere) - Zhang, Kang & Marshall (2024) — icy moon oceans (Science Advances) - Bire et al. (2023) — hydrothermal plumes on icy ocean worlds (JGR Planets) Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <[email protected]>

Suyash should have added it in 2023
Fromme et al. use Oceananigans to generate 3D Rayleigh-Bénard convection training data for their equivariant autoencoder surrogate model. This paper cites the overview preprint (Wagner et al. 2025) rather than the JOSS paper, so it was missed in the initial citation search. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <[email protected]>
LES study of mixed-layer deepening and internal wave generation under sea ice in free drift. Published in JPO, cites preprint not JOSS. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <[email protected]>

Summary
Cross-referenced ~103 Semantic Scholar citations of the JOSS paper (Ramadhan et al. 2020), Google Scholar citations of the overview preprint (Wagner et al. 2025), and citations of the model development papers against the current reference list, then verified each candidate by reading the paper to confirm Oceananigans usage.
These 9 papers are confirmed to use Oceananigans but were missing from the list:
