Description
What is it about
We will meet to form a new committee for the Aberdeen Study Group. We will start from a list of committee positions that was discussed at a previous event, which includes:
- a president (attends and organises all committee meetings, keeps in touch with Mozilla and other collaborators and organises bigger events)
- a communication coordinator (sends emails, manages social media accounts, promotes the study group)
- a technical admin (manages the website and GitHub page, helps teachers formatting the tutorials for the website)
- a teaching coordinator (makes a teaching plan for every semester, finds volunteers for tutorials, schedules the sessions and reviews the tutorials)
- department reps (from Cruickshank, Zoology, Psychology etc. they will make sure that their respective depmartment's learning needs and interets are represented in the Study Group's activities).
However, this list is not written in stone and we can discuss more roles and different structures.
After agreeing on the committee positions we will proceed to elect the new committee members. Before we leave we will arrange a training day for the new committee on how to manage the GitHub account and website and how to create teaching material with R Markdown.
When and where
We will meet on Friday the 9th of February from 16:00 to 17:00 in the Zoology cofee room (room 207).
How to prepare
There will be tea and biscuits kindly offered by the School of Biological Sciences so bring your mug.
Hope to see you there!
