What is it about

QGIS is a Free and Open Source Geographic Information System (which also includes data) – it’s the open source alternative to ArcGIS. But contrary to ArcGIS, QGIS is more intuitive, all the packages are free. QGIS is the perfect tool for map image processing, spatial analysis, cool plotting. QGIS supports more formats than ArcGIS, including GeoTiff, Erdas, Img, ArcInfo Ascii Grid, JPEG, PNG. QGIS it is connected with GRASS (raster software), PostgreSQL (database) Python, R and OpenStreetMap (free database) among other. All you need! This tutorial will be an initial introduction to the software, for people with 0 previous knowledge. You’ll discover and will love QGIS!

When and where

We will meet on the 6th of December from 17:00 to 19:00 in Room ZB16 in the Zoology Building.

How to prepare

All you will need is a laptop with QGIS installed (you can download it here).
