Description
What is it about
We all love R, but dealing with spatial data can be quite tricky because Spatial obejects belong to different classes compared to the familiar data.frame and require different functions to be imported and manipulated. In this tutorial you will learn how to use some of the different packages that have recently been developed to deal with spatial data in R, such as sp and raster. At the end of the the tutorial you will become familiar with the main functions used to import and export spatial data, change coordinate system and perform simple manipulations such as overlay and buffering.
When and where
We will meet on the 1st of November from 17:00 to 19:00 in Room 106 MacRobert building.
How to prepare
All you will need is a laptop with R installed (you can download it here). You can also use one of the university computers.
Hope to see you there!
