Welcome to All Things Georgian

Hello. A very warm welcome to All Things Georgian, I am your host, Sarah Murden, FRHistS, described by others as ‘a super sleuthing‘ 18th century historian. I am an independent researcher and genealogist, who writes about anything and everything to do with the Georgian era.

You will find hundreds of articles on here covering a wide variety of topics from fashion through to murder, along with some more ‘quirky’ ones about various characters of the Georgian era.

As I have a keen interest in women’s history and have authored many articles specifically about women, enabling me to bring them more into the spotlight.

To date the website has received over 2.8 million hits from all corners of the world.

There are also numerous, well researched and fully sourced articles about Dido Elizabeth Belle, making it the most uptodate and reliable source of information about her life to date, including guest articles by Etienne Daly who has been researching her life for over a decade.

I am also delighted to host the sister site – The Diaries of Miss Fanny Chapman where you can read the transcripts of Fanny’s diaries.  The diaries begin part way through 1807 and end in 1812, before picking up again to cover the period from 1837 to 1840  – click on the highlighted link above to go directly to them.

I have also co-authored four historical biographies, and one very glossy book of short tales from the 18th century which takes the same format as this website. All of these can be found via the ‘books’ tab above or by clicking here.

If you would like to be kept informed, then please do sign up to receive email alerts when a new article goes live (I promise not to bombard you with emails). Check out the latest blog posts on the sidebar or click here.

If you have any comments about the website or the books I would be delighted to hear from you. You can also find me on all the majority of social media platforms.
