The Meteorological Service of Chile sent us some nice examples of GOES-16 plots they are developing using the NetCDF’s provided by INPE via FTP. To produce these plots, they are using the free NCL tool, which supports NetCDF 3/4, GRIB 1/2, HDF 4/5, HDF-EOS 2/5, Shapefiles, ASCII and binary data formats. Thanks MeteoChile!

And below, an RGB produced by MARN – El Salvador, developed with the well known, freely available McIDAS-V. Plenty of free tools at the community’s disposal! Apart from GNC-A, MARN is downloading the NetCDF’s available at NOAA’s Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) GOES Archive, as seen on this blog post.

GOES-16 data posted on this page are preliminary, non-operational and are undergoing testing
