Effect of astaxanthin on Strawberry Seedlings under low temperature stress on active oxygen metabolism

In order to solve the problem of low temperature damage in strawberry production, 'Benihoppe' str... more In order to solve the problem of low temperature damage in strawberry production, 'Benihoppe' strawberry (Fragaria ananassa Duch) was used as a material, so the effects of astaxanthin treatment on strawberry seedlings under low temperature stress was studies. The results showed that compared with the control, the antioxidant enzyme (SOD, POD, CAT, APX) activity and FRAP value of strawberry leaves increased; meanwhile the production rate of O2-, H2O2 and MDA were decreased in all astaxanthin treated strawberry seedlings under low temperature stress. Especially the treatment of 50 μmol/L astaxanthin had the best effect, indicating that the astaxanthin treatment in suitable concentration can effectively reduce the injuries in strawberry seedlings under low temperature.

Nordihydroguaiaretic acid treatment on the antioxidant properties of strawberry fruit

‘Benihoppe’ strawberry treated with nordihydroguaiareticacid (NDGA) as materials, the main bioact... more ‘Benihoppe’ strawberry treated with nordihydroguaiareticacid (NDGA) as materials, the main bioactive compounds and antioxidation capacity of fruits were studied and compared. In the experiment, the contents of anthocyanin, vitamin C, flavonoid and total phenol and the antioxidant ability (FRAP) of strawberry fruit were measured. The results showed that NDGA had no obvious effect on the content of anthocyanin and flavonoid of strawberry, but the inhibitory effect on the content of total phenol, vitamin C and antioxidant activity were observed, and especially the inhibition of total phenol was the most. Taken together, nordihydroguaiaretic acid treatment inhibited the antioxidant activity of strawberry fruits.

Student perceptions are investigated in terms of three factors on Technology Acceptance Model: effects of the use of this technology on their motivation, the perceived usefulness and the perceived ease of use of this technology. In this study, Adobe Connect virtual classroom tool was used to create a synchronous virtual classroom. 65 students got involved in lessons offered via Adobe Connect. In these lessons, students attended lessons 2-hour a week in four weeks period. 51 students attended the questionnaire. In this study, quantitative research methodology is used for data collection and analysis. Quantitative data was gathered by using questionnaire that was developed by Tursak. Generally, students learn all the information andcommunication tools provided to them, but they are never expected to write anycomputer programs. A new ICT curriculum, which started being implementedlast year in Turkey, gives students a chance to learn not just using computers,but to think like computers. This paper provides implementation suggestions forthe integration of Scratch into the existing ICT curriculum, based on priorresearch on the phenomenon. Hence Scratch, as a computational thinking tool,will be discussed in terms of its possible contribution to students’computational thinking skills.
