The Friday Five: You're Going to Like This ... Not a Lot, but You'll Like It

1. Have you ever watched illusion magic? Close-up, or in a stage show, or on television? Did it work for you?

Yes, and both - I remember watching Paul Daniels in a magic show on my birthday, and I've watched a couple of magicians close-up, once just this last weekend. Each time, it was like the performer just was a real wizard.

2. Have you ever wished on a star, or a lucky cat, or a coin in a wishing well? Did it work in some way?

I have vague memories of using a wishing well as a kid, but I can't remember what I wished for, or if it worked.

3. Have you ever cast a spell, made a love charm, or tried a curse? Did it work in some way?

I don't think I've done anything of the sort, and probably wouldn't.

4. Are there any other traditional superstitions you pay attention to? Do they work in some way?

Well, I'm always cautious about Friday 13th, just in case something goes wrong. Other than that, I say, go with your gut with situations.

5. Would you want major magical powers like in a fantasy story? Which powers, and how would you use them?

Teleportation would be useful; I'd just use it to get home quickly, or escape from a difficult situation; or maybe the power to rewind time and make a different (hopefully better) decision.

Mindful March: Who Ate All the Pies?

I was gutted at the Six Nations last night, yet it was probably our best match so far, bar the final score, in terms of not being completely one-sided.

Today, I had a belated birthday lunch, a joint thing with family, and we went out for a meal. I was trying to eat mindfully, notice everything about every mouthful, savour the taste, and at first I was really noticing things like the texture, including the crispiness of the bacon. I think that went out of the window during my main course when I just found myself wolfing down the roast beef that I'd been saving for last, and just like that, it was gone.

Here's my too tasty main course.

I don't know if its a common phemonenon or psychological thing for the best and tastiest parts of a meal to never last as long as they should. I may have been rushing because I was having others' unwanted food palmed off on me, and I wanted to eat all of my meal before my stomach disagreed. Dessert was a delicious, if messy, S'mores cheesecake.

There was a magician at the pub, and he entertained us with a bunch of card tricks, and I'm going to check out his instagram. Our only disappointment (for some of us) was that the pub had clean run out of pies, which everyone except me seemed to want.

We went back to Dad's place afterwards, and we played Mexican Train (like dominoes) and my Stepmum also made me a sandwich for when I'm hungry later, which I'll be sure to savour, rather than rush.

On Strava, I have:
* Logged 8 days for the March Ten Days Active Challenge;
* Climbed 419m for the March Elevation Challenge;
* Walked nearly 62.6K steps for the March Walk 100K Steps Challenge; and
* Logged 37 minutes for Train.Recover.Evolve.With Amazfit.

I have walked very nearly but not quite 62km for the Spring Walking Challenge.

Hope all my female followers have had a nice International Womens' Day.
