Happier January: See it All Clearly

I guessed the end of the latest The Night Manager from constant hints that there was some big twist, and sure enough...[Spoiler (click to open)]Hugh Laurie was back as Richard Roper; I wonder how long he'll last?

I dreamt last night that there had been some one-off revival of The IT Crowd, which seemed to take inspiration from Squid Game; one of those times when I have to remind myself when I wake up that something isn't true.

I read a short chapter of 52 ways to walk about smiling at others when you're out, and how it improves your mood and that of others; something I'm not always good at, as I tend to avoid eye contact with a lot of people. The book mentioned morning dog walkers, who I have a tendency to dodge myself, usually seeing two people coming the other way on a narrow footpath with their precious pooch behind me convinces me that I'll struggle to get past. At least it also advised not just smiling at anyone, so not people who might take it the wrong way; I'll maybe start with smiling at station staff on my commute, or the occasional security guard.

Today, I'll also look out for five things that I find beautiful; I now have two outstanding photo_scavenger prompts, loud and start.

The Borrowers (1997)

A film based on literature, for the January ohnotheydidnt film challenge.

I've never read the book, but I really enjoyed this - despite a couple of unconvincing special effects. It put me in mind of Home Alone at one point, mostly when John Goodman's villainous lawyer was trying to find the kids in the house he wanted to demolish.

It had a fantastic cast, too; Jim Broadbent and Celia Imrie as the parents, and Hugh Laurie as a policeman. I'll have to check out some of the other film adaptations.
