Today is the Tomorrow You Worried About Yesterday (a saying by my Nan)

Jump Back Up July: Minor Things

I enjoyed yesterday's summer party, and I got to take part in things like table tennis and mini golf.

Back home, I started Season Two of Squid Game. [Spoiler (click to open)]I could have easily guessed the detective character was not dead, did wonder if they'd throw us a curveball and kill off the main character with the Russian Roulette though.

I watched Sweden v England afterwards; that was an anxiety-inducing match and a hard fought win, with some sloppy penalties.

I know I have a habit of thinking too much about little things; I'll get surprised by someone appearing round a corner, and worry unnecessarily about how that person felt about me almost crashing into them, when it probably didn't matter to them, so today I'll try not to think about those little surprises that are over in moments, and focus on what matters. I've got up early so am thinking of sitting in a cafe for a short time with my coffee, rather than getting a takeaway cup.

I'm going out for an evening walk with Stag Walkers tonight.

On Strava, I have:
* Walked 2km of 10km for a new challenge: HOKA Together We Fly Higher Challenge;
* Walked 13 miles for Unsponsored Project with Bandit Running; and
* Climbed 1,143m for the July Elevation Challenge.

This pod has appeared at work; I think it's to take confidential calls or just avoid distractions; it looks like it could feel like a greenhouse though.

I went to the Aldersgate Talks yesterday, and then Euston Church after work, coming it to find it raining, which was probably needed after that heatwave.

I've been trying to distract myself from negative thoughts today; my mind hasn't been going to some of the dark places it sometimes does, but I did focus during my swim this morning by doing times tables in my head. The pool was quite busy this morning; I got chatting to a man who I've spoken to before, and who seems to go regularly first thing. I could just see a procession of mostly older people coming along the lane, and not many gaps between swimmers. The other man said he'd try the fast lane; I swam one length, eventually having to overtake the two men ahead of me, and then went over to the non-lane swimming area for the rest of the time. There were some particularly loud, cackling women in the pool; strange how the swimming pool always attracts people who want to swim around and chat while taking up a lot of space.

I realised I was meant to do a course about terrorism, just re-taking it, this morning, so got that out of the way. It's something I've done about four times now, but I have to keep re-certifying.

I thought this video was quite useful for putting negative or unhelpful thoughts into perspective. Don't identify thoughts as negative; they're just thoughts.

I tried recycling a few plastic things from the bathroom I don't need; decluttering at home as usual proved harder than it should have.

On Strava, I have:
* Walked 10 miles for Unsponsored Project with Bandit Running; and
* Climbed 1,099m for the July Elevation Challenge.

There is a new photo_scavenger challenge: Broom.
