World-Class Grain Deserves a World-Class Building.
As global demand for Canadian grain grows, Canada must be ready to meet that need. Building a new facility is not a small undertaking, but the world’s food needs a place where experts can work.
Creating a hub for food innovation will support Canadian farmers and domestic and global customers, and it will uphold Canada’s position as a leader in nutritious, high-quality food ingredients. Food manufacturers can get raw commodities anywhere, but the best ingredients will come from Canada.

The Vision
Realizing the vision
The world relies on agriculture for food security, nutrition, and environmental sustainability. Canada is seen as a world leader for quality cereal grains, pulses, and oilseeds, and that reputation means major buyers around the world are eager to get their hands on Canadian crops.
Gate will be a place to uphold our position as a global leader.
A state-of-the-art facility for agriculture and agri-food
Gate is envisioned as a multi-use, state-of-the-art facility for grains research, development, and innovation that Cereals Canada is seeking to build in the heart of Winnipeg, Manitoba. It will focus on milling, food processing, and end-product development.
Designed for efficient collaboration
To turn that vision into reality, we need to rethink the way we work together. Home to the Cereals Canada technical facilities, Gate will be designed as a hub for collaboration. We know we can go further when we work together to connect ideas and create more opportunities for Canadian grain.
Supporting the Canadian grains value chain
From downtown Winnipeg, the heart of Canada’s grain sector, we will continue to assess and verify the high quality of Canadian grains and provide expert technical support to customers around the world.
Creating Opportunities for Value Chain Members, Global Customers, and Canadian Grains
Gate presents an opportune moment to catalyze future growth and transformation for Canadian growers and industry. Gate will provide the space and equipment to utilize Cereals Canada’s expertise to its full potential and provide best-in-class support to its customers.
Value Chain Members
Cereals Canada has served the cereals value chain, and our customers, from the same location in downtown Winnipeg for over 50 years. As global demand for Canadian wheat, barley, and oats grows, it is imperative for the Canadian grains sector to be ready to meet that demand.
Cereals Canada supports its members by gathering market intelligence and building relationships with industry, government, and customers, delivering tangible benefits that are indispensable for the long-term competitiveness and sustainability of Canada’s cereal industry.
Global Customers
Each year, the Cereals Canada technical team performs a quality assessment on newly harvested grain samples. The data from these evaluations is important for evaluating and comparing the physical and functional qualities important to produce end-products.
Providing millers, bakers, and processors a deeper understanding of the wheat, along with world-class technical support, allows them to use it to their best advantage, on its own or blended with other wheats from Canada or other markets.
