This community is a modest attempt to capture the zeitgeist of the nouveau thru deco eras (roughly 1880-1939). Admittedly, this territory has been covered previously, in other communities; however, my attempt here is not to focus simply on their respective aesthetic principles, but on the spectacle, and chronicle, both social and sociological.
My concept here is certainly loose. The community name was chosen out of a desire to bring to life a sense of nostalgia, even though the community itself covers a span which extends beyond the era of the 'gas lamp'. It is my desire to share and examine various ideas and indulgences from a modern viewpoint, as well as those of the respective contemporaries of the epoch.
