A belated but most sincere birthday present for Amber, aka minttown1. Sorry it took so long, but I got a bit carried away with the pretty cartoon femslash. ^_~ Here's Raven Queen and Apple White from Ever After High, older and perhaps only slightly wiser (at least one of them. ^_^). It's totally my head canon that they end up as college roommates, too.

I hope you had a wonderful day, and enjoy many blessings and good fortune during your next trip around the sun! <3

... actually, I don't need boys for much of anything myself, but they are occasionally pretty to look at (James McAvoy, Hugh Dancy) and nice to listen to (see previous, and Michael Fassbender and Mads Mikkelsen). And Sasha Roiz (Renard, Grimm) is very tall... okay, they have their uses. ^_~ But, as Margot Verger says, they are totally optional accessories in many areas of life. *snerk*

At any rate! I am obviously here to inflict my art on you again (you poor dears). Submitted for your approval: Abigail Hobbs and Jeanne Weaver are ready to kick ass and take names-- and that includes the writers who offed them to advance the lead male's character development. ^_~ Crossover with Falling Skies.

I originally started this in honor of Amber's birthday, but I didn't finish it in time. ^^; Never the less, it was definitely inspired by our mutual frustration at the loss of two such amazing female characters. Yes, I understand Abigail dying... the show is called 'Hannibal', after all. But the loss of Jeanne was just lame.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Watercolor pencil, gouache paint, chalk ink and india ink on pastel paper. Note to self, do not attempt gouache on pastel paper. X_X''

... this would be kind of a hot femslash pairing, too. ;-)

Even though I ordered Forever Knight season one for only $30 on Amazon, I couldn't wait the week and a half they said it was going to take to ship. So, being the big silly I am, I went to Borders and paid $60 for the second season. Bad Meredith! Your desire for instant gratification is hardly an attractive character trait. ^_~ But, my rediscovered love of Nick/LaCroix has led me to lots of thinking about vampires in general. I have several vampire fandoms (hmmm... I wonder if that means something? ^_~), so I decided to make a poll. Mind you, this poll also includes a few questions/options regarding Interview With a Vampire and its associated universe. I'm not an Anne Rice fan (though I do like Claudia!), but since I've seen the aforementioned movie and Queen of the Damned, I thought I'd include the options. I also included Demon Under Glass, which is a really great movie that most people probably haven't heard of. So a lot of bases are covered-- but, not all of them by any means. Hell, I don't know anything about Anita Blake!

This part is only nine questions. I'd love to see what you guys have to say!

The next part will include all those who-could-kick-whose-ass questions, and other fun stuff. Stay tuned!

Oh, Mr. Bierce, no one likes a know-it-all. ^_~

Five days into my new job, and I'm still alive. I'm not dead, and I'm not a zombie, so... that means I am alive, right? First day details are here. Since then, it's been all about learning the routine, getting to know the kids, and being more stubborn than little boys who refuse to nap, wash their hands, put on their shoes, use the rest room, give the toy back to so-and-so, stop kicking the chair... ect into infinity. There's one in every class-- I'm starting to think it might be a legal requiement. ^_~
But there are also some really sweet, thoughtful kids to make up for it. And Miss Fatima let me plan the craft today, so that was nice.

Very Brief Thoughts on Episode 4.11 of The 4400:Collapse )

Just wanted to let y'all know I'm still alive. I know that a lot of my f-list is going back to college this week, or getting ready to go soon. Good luck! Here's to a great quater/semester for everyone! *clinks glass*

*Tom Servo voice* Shake your peach cobbler, baby, good times!

The other day, just out of curiousity, I decided to figure out how much fan fiction I have stored on my computer:

Fanfiction Stored on Meredith's Computer:
Jack/Daniel (Stargate SG-1)-- 169 fics
Simon/Joe (Demon Under Glass)-- 3 fics
Nick/LaCroix (Forever Knight)-- 9 fics
Jim/Blair (Sentinel)-- 107 fics
Snape/Harry (Harry Potter)-- 91 fics
Spike/Xander (BtVS)-- 168 fics
Qui-Gon/Obiwan (The Phantom Menace)-- 12 fics
Clark/Lex (Smallville)-- 163 fics
Merry/Pippin (Lord of the Rings)-- 5 fics
Bruce/Dick (Batman)-- 64 fics
Harry/Peter (Spiderman)-- 2 fics
Tim/Kon (DC: Teen Titans)-- 24 fics
F/F Fics of Various Pairings: 168 fics

TOTAL: 975 fics

... I really don't think there's anything to add to that. Except possibly a plea for the number of a slash addict therapist. X_x;;/^_~
I should probably be ashamed. *wink*

WARNING:: This is a rant. Meredith is being a bitch-- she's way, _way_ past the respectful discourse stage and about ten miles into Extremely Pissed. You've been warned.

While I am intensely relieved that the Constitutional ban on gay marriage didn't pass, I find the political landscape these days like looking out on a barren, charred wasteland.

Good ol' Dubyah weighed in saying that marriage was a fundamental right that should be restricted to only a man and a woman. So... let me follow this, Georgie. It's a fundamental right (which means *everyone* should have it), so you want to take it away from certain individuals just because you don't like what they might get up to in the sack? Nice one, Logic-Boy! X_x;;

Also, according to this, forty-five of the fifty states have some sort of ban on gay marriage, be it constiutional or simple statute. Gee, it's nice to know I'm only free in ten percent of the country. I already live in one of the nineteen knuckle-headed states that have banned it on their constitutions. Thank you, Ohio, for making sure I know I'm a second class citizen.

Add all this to the recent swell in Ex-Gay ministries? I want to scream. I want to throw things. Hello, I am not a disease that needs to be cured. But it's like trying to have a meaningful conversation with a freak'n wall.

To Anti-Gay Conservatives and Ex-Gay "Outreach" People: Have a pocket full of bite me. Talking doesn't seem to work with you, so I'm just gonna wave a single universally recognized finger and hope you get the message.

Sorry for bitching at you guys, but this stuff makes me crazy. _CRAZY_. I want to go live on another fucking planet at this point.

So as not to end on a completely desolate note: If you like the idea of moving to another planet, try Katherine V. Forrest's Daughters of a Coral Dawn and Daughters of an Amber Afternoon. Good lesbian romance is hard to find. Intellectually stimulating "light" sci-fi/fantasy is even harder. Both? Highly squee-worthy. So the science is on crack sometimes. It's damn good crack, and that's all that matters.

I saw this meme floating around whilst going through Batman related LJ entries, and I thought it was cute. It's The Denial List, aka Those Things In Any Fandom That Make Me Stick My Fingers In My Ears And Hum.

First off, I have to apologize that this post doesn't contain any actual music files. Since I mostly buy from iTunes, a great many of my MP3s are actually protected music files that resist being uploaded. *sigh*

Anyway, I was sort of spacing out in Physical Anthropology the other day, when I started thinking about my OTPs and their theme songs, or lack there of. I know a lot of people have OTP playlists or whatever-- this is just a list of three or four that apply to my top favorite pairings.

So. Let's Go!Collapse )

Well, I guess this is what happens when I quiet up for a while-- huge fandom post. Anyone care to agree on my choices? Violently disagree? Wonder what the hell I'm smoking? ^_~

It's time once again for Meredith to look deep into the hidden depths of her hard drive and look at all the bits and pieces of fic floating around down there. I haven't written anything since February, and I'm getting a little frustrated-- hopefully this will help me get off my boney white arse. ^_~

Author's Notes: Wow, this is my very first Firefly fic. Femslash, at that! Non-graphic, possibly pre-slash femslash, but femslash none the less. ^_^;;; This story was written as a Christmas present for the ever wonderful and amazing likethesun2, who has an amazing Zoe fic you should definitely read. I'm serious. My own humble offering is Kaylee/Inara, with slight spoilers for "Shindig". I can't thank you enough for taking the time to read this, and I hope it doesn't disappoint. ^_^
