Ardent is my favorite word. Though I do go back and forth with a few other top contenders. I actually don't use the word often, it's too special for daily usage and carries so much impact that it must be used sparingly or it loses meaning.
I love the word so much that I named a fanfic that is very special to me, 'Ardor', which in simple aspects is the noun to Ardent's adjective.
There is also the word, Ardently, which birthed my passionate attachment to the word Ardent. It began with my first read of Pride and Prejudice, (a life-changing event for me at 12), and with reading this part of the 'reluctant' speech from Mr. Darcy, "You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you." I had to look up that word because I'd never noticed it before, and so began vigorous reading of the dictionary and thesaurus for fun shortly after, along with all the other Jane Austen novels. Guess who wanted to spend their days writing romance novels after that? Me.
And oh, later that year, or the following, watching the BBC miniseries and falling in love with Colin Firth. *sigh*
What's so great about this being the question of the day on livejournal, is that today this word was chosen from my Favorite Words prompts list, -a coincidence or something more?

Okay, so... I've completed the Nano count, though I've still got a few of the 'prompts' left. However, that said, my proofreader is doing some major proofreading tonight and says she'll have at least five more parts back to me by Sunday, so expect more then. Just thought I'd let you all know. I am happy to have completed this, though I swear, I never understood how absolutely hard this challenge would be.
Never in all the years of me attempting Nano has it ever been so hard to write. Unfortunately, I'm finding it very hard to write Brian and Justin lately.

I am so very sad to hear of Cory Monteith passing away and my thoughts go out to his loved ones, the GLEE family and all the fans. He was truly a remarkable actor, singer and dancer (never understood why people said he couldn't dance). An actor who had so many inspirational story lines and allowing viewers like me to connect with a 'jock' for the first time in their life.



You were amazing, Corey and I will miss you, thank you for giving me my favorite Glee song and one of the most inspirational moments I've ever seen on television.

Summary: High School AU! Brian-17, Justin-16 (both are seniors in h.s.)
What happens when Justin's parents divorce and he starts going to public school with the rest of his friends? He finally meets Brian Kinney, who he's heard a lot about, but none of it is good-with the exception of how drop dead gorgeous he is.

Justin is convinced to teach Brian a "lesson", making the untamable Brian Kinney fall in love with him before brutally breaking his heart. Eventually, Justin starts having feelings for Brian after learning about who he really is, but it may be too late.

P.S. This is my first attempt at writing a younger Brian with Justin but so far I'm happy with the characterization. I'll do my best to keep them who they are and not make this some sort of silly predictable teenage 'coming of age' story and not every person in the high school turns out to be gay or homo-haters, but yeah you will see 'the gang' cause it's Queer as Folk.

Justin isn't yet comfortable with himself, he's a confident gay man but accepting Jewel isn't easy for him. Jewel is stuck being a Princess because Justin isn't ready to allow her to be Queen and she isn't the only one in limbo. He really doesn't have any idea what he wants to do with his life, he doesn't have focus or direction because he doesn't trust himself. The idea of finding a man who he can trust to accept him is definitely not on his to-do list, he's well aware of what many gay men would think of him if they saw inside his closet. He's taken a few chances, but he learned quickly that as long as Jewel exists, he isn't likely to meet anyone worth more than a quick fuck or suck.
Brian is at a crossroads in his life, he's bored with his routines and no matter where he goes in search of a trick, he never finds him, 'the one got away'. His brain isn't even aware that he's looking for anyone in particular but his body knows and he's smart enough to know that something has to change if he's ever going to be satisfied with his life. All of his friends have moved on and making fun of their 'stepford' romances has passed the point of pathetic and ventured into acceptance, with perhaps a whisper of jealousy. Many aspects of his life have changed rapidly over the last eight years and the yearning he feels for something 'different' is too strong to ignore any longer.
Brian and Justin meet and have an undeniable connection but Brian isn't looking for someone this different and Justin isn't looking for anyone at all, especially not a man who is a bigger slut than himself and who can't see past Jewel and remember that underneath her, is always Justin.
Can they can accept one another and in doing so learn to accept all their desires?

NOTE: The timeline is season 3, so you can imagine them with the hair and bodies and ultimate freedom of expression I believe they shared then, however though the subplot has a little to do with the theme of the story, this takes place sometime around episode 309-310 but has nothing really to do with Stockwell, because though that is one of my favorite arcs, there had to be life and advertising outside of it too, imo.
