Deeeeep breath: Let's summarize everything that's under this cut, as not everyone has time to read it. Loans are way out of hand, and I'm scared my school's animation program isn't good enough to get me a job. My friends have had horrible things happening to them that I feel like I haven't been able to help with nearly as much as I would like to, which have all started looming in a black cloud over my head. And lastly, I'm starting to have either separation anxiety, or abandonment issues, and I really need to work on that, especially once the rest of this stress clears away.

...Okay, I guess not freaking out, per se, because for someone doing that I'm really rather calm about it, but...

I still don't have crew lined up to shoot my film. Aaaaaaaand I only have one actor, for a film that calls for two characters.

*goes to work on rewriting the screenplay for only one character in case he can't get anyone, because he can't afford to just have...nothing >.>*

So...I'm still lacking people to work on one of my films, and I have to have it shot by the end of next week. This means I need to shoot during the week, on weekdays, preferably before Oct 23rd (because that weekend s when pretty much everyone else is shooting, and I won't be able to get gear).

Is there anyone in the Chicago area, or who's willing to travel a little ways, to come help me? You'd mostly end up like...moving stuff around (lights, random things), but I will feed you and such, and I'm just shooting in my apartment and in the park that's right across the street.

I can help with costs of transportation, and you can crash at my place, I've got plenty of room.

I made a journal for Max Goof, but I don't have a DVD of An Extremely Goofy Movie to screencap from to make icons for him. Does anyone A) know of a place with decent screencaps, or B) have the DVD and are willing to screencap for me?

Alternately, is there anyone in Cincinnati willing to get the DVD from my parents' house and screencap for me?

Let this post serve as my apology to anyone who has to deal with me for the rest of the week. I have the distinct feeling that the word "sorry" is going to be coming out of my mouth or typed on my keyboard rather often for its duration.

So, I killed 1700+ enemies finishing Ven's story. I started playing the game around noon on Tuesday, in the following 48 hours I'd spent 16.5 of that getting Ven's ending on Critical Mode.

I died against one boss at least 25 times before level grinding, another at least 20, and another more than 40.

Terra and Aqua will be on Proud Mode.

I guess I could give some kind of actual update again, since I've mostly been using Plurk and just bouncing around pictures and such on here.

SO. In my parents' house for a couple weeks, probably going home to Chicago and that wonderful new apartment Friday of next week or something, maybe earlier if I get sick of it here once all my Cincinnati friends are back in classes. I'm amused that it rained the day after I got here, and apparently there'd been something of a drought.

Parents, however, were fucking obnoxious the day we left Chicago. It was really, really hard to deal with them, and got to the point where one trip to my new apartment I simply didn't let them come up with me, and made them stay in the car. I was rather unamused with their behavior, but I can only hope it'll improve at least a little. ...I doubt it, as my mom has suddenly started trying to use the phrase "You'll do it because you're a nice person," to try to guilt trip me into doing things. Of course...it only pisses me off, and I'd much rather she just respect that I'm not going to do every stupid thing she asks of me. And that my apartment in Chicago is not going to be a free hotel for her to use whenever she feels like it.

Watched The Lion King II: Simba's Pride for the first time last Wednesday, and got a very, very strong muse for Kovu. He's on the rare list of muses who are loud even when compared to Roxas, and most of you know just how few of those there are. Especially after only seeing the movie they're in once. He punted my Hige muse, and kept me from getting a Balto muse at all (that movie I watched on the way home, and I've been watching Wolf's Rain with Malia). But yeah...absolutely love that character. He's awesome, even if his movie isn't the greatest.

Been working alternately on drawing and composing, though much more of the latter than the former. I'm rather proud of myself with both, as I'm finding I have a lot more talent at each than I was expecting. We'll see how far that takes me before I get tired of them, or if they'll be hobbies or eventual careers for me. A wolf can hope, right?

Hey guys, just wanted to give a heads up that internet in the dorm is down right now, so I may not be around again tonight. Hopefully it'll be fixed by later this evening, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Helped to shoot another guy's final film yesterday, and was yet again annoyed by something that seems to keep happening to me. That being that very often, when I give someone advice and they ignore me or get stubborn, they find out the hard way that I was right. It took over 10 hours to shoot a 20-page script. We have a huge amount of footage that the editor will have to pare down to an 8min short film. Repeatedly, almost endlessly, I told the director his script was probably twice the length that would've been reasonable to shoot in a single day. Repeatedly, he ignored me. I didn't get home until midnight last night, and when I did I was exhausted from being there for so long. Not a very happy Wolfie at the moment. >.>

In other news, I need to do one last draft of my final paper for Monday, and bake the snickerdoodles I made the dough for on Thursday. Also, with luck, I'll get to meet ith Hayley tomorrow and have an epic day of hanging out~ I don't want to get my hopes up too high for that, though, just in case her family decides they don't want to bring her downtown. If that happens, I can always just fill tomorrow with either sleep or Disney movies. XD

Now I get a sandwich from Panera and return to the apartment to finish everything up.

So...I'm not 100% certain on this, because every time I've talked to my mom since she hasn't approached the subject--*growls*--but I'm planning on being in Cincinnati at my parents' house for at least two weeks starting August 15th.

I'm asking you guys for some help with critiquing it because I'm severely doubtful that I'm going to get any sort of good critique from my instructor or from any of my crew members.

Okay, don't have the apartment yet, because my mom still has to co-sign the lease, then I need to go back and finalize everything next week, BUT SEARCH IS OVER. Yes, it was fast, but places go really quick around here, and I found a really good one.

Basic specs: 1 BR, 1 bath, ~740 sq ft., full kitchen
Rent: $1267/mo., plus electric, plus TV and internet. TV will be nil as I have youtube and Netflix, so it'll probably come out to approx. $1390/mo. Expensive, but that's like...nothing for this kind of space in downtown Chicago. To be safe, I'm going to pretend it's actually $1450/mo. when I apply for loans. That should keep me in a better position for books and groceries if I still don't find a job.
Location: AMAZING. Lake view. FUCKING. LAKE. VIEW. Also, it's literally one block away from the building where pretty much all of my classes are.
Random amenities: Heated outdoor pool, dog park, fitness/weight rooms, laundry room, mailing room, dry cleaners (...that's the most random one...)

SO. Anyone who wants to come visit me once I'm moved into the new place (assuming nothing goes wrong with the lease, oh god will I cry if something goes wrong with the lease), I will be more than able to play host and let you crash in my place. THERE IS SO MUCH ROOM. SO MUCH.

In other news, need to start on the script for my final film today. Good news? There are only three characters. Bad news? It's almost all dialogue. >.>
My production designer (costumes and props, set design, etc) is really on top of things, and my cinematographer is getting on my ass about the script, so I'm set for those two. XD My editor...is unfortunately one of the idiots from my own section, though not one of the ones from the group film I was complaining about. I'll have to be really on his ass the entire time he's working, though. My Producer has been...kind of half really on the ball, and half getting hit in the head by the ball. For a couple things he's been very quick, but for others I still haven't heard anything from him at all. ...We'll see, I guess...>.>

Why, in all their infinite wisdom, did the people who ran the Summer Orientation feel it was necessary for a student to attend a separate, "full day" orientation session? The information presented was really very much the same, and not only that, but an adviser was keen on telling me I had simply wasted my time in waking up early to go there.

In other news, sitting here with my cell on speakerphone while I'm on hold with Financial Aid. Pretty much all student loans disburse funds directly to the school now, so I would have to wait for the school to direct leftover funds beyond tuition to me before I'd be able to use that money to pay rent. I need to see just how long that takes, because the very last thing I want to do is be delinquent on payments to a landlord when the money is just floating around in the ether.
EDIT: Okay, that took all of thirty seconds of actual conversation. Refunds come in 3-5 business days, then the direct deposit processes within another 48 hours. That means I'll have to plan accordingly, hopefully not having to borrow money from my parents in the process (though I can always pay them back immediately upon receipt of the refund).

Three tours of three different apartment buildings set up for the next three days starting Thursday, crossing my fingers that I'll be able to actually afford the security deposit if I find an apartment I like.

Still no luck in job searching, sadly. Lost count of how many places I've actually applied by now, probably like...ten or so, maybe fifteen? You'd think more places downtown would be hiring... Really, though. When your best bet has become a document you filled out entitled "Future Interest Form," your confidence begins to slooooowly wiiiiiither awaaaaay... *weeps*

And now I sleep, so I'll be more awake and aware when I meet with my cinematographer for my final film project this evening.

Is it just me, or is it more annoying to get an email from your instructor giving you the go-ahead the day before the assignment's due than it would have been had the instructor not replied at all?

...Also, same instructor gave me more points on my papers than I earned. I suppose he just decided not to notice that there were rather glaring holes in both the amount of information given as opposed to what the assignment required and the quality of the information that was given. Ah well, I'm not one to tel him he's made an error when it's in my favor.

EDIT: On a completely different note, looking for an apartment in my area is proving to be relatively easy. Just need to find one that's a good fit, and not too pricey...

...The bass drums are still booming in my ears from listening to it so many times in the last half hour trying to get the levels right...at least I've got an idea of where to put everything now. Also, listening to it so many times gave me at least one idea on how I can improve that transition that was bugging me before (around 30secs in, it's the only part of the song after the first bit that doesn't repeat itself). The fix? ...Have it repeat. *headdesk* Oh well. Like I said, learning. XD Very much with the still learning. :P

All right, I know some of you have been just dying to actually hear some of the stuff I've been composing. So...I finally have one part of a piece ready enough that I'm willing to let people listen to it. It's rather short (a minute and a half with 2 seconds of silence at the front), but I've been working on it for around two weeks now.

Right now, it's just strings, percussion, and piano, and everything's done with sampled instruments (thus, sounds like crap compared to anything real). I still have some fixing to do around 28-30 seconds in (the 13th measure, since the first is silence), I don't really like how it transitions right there, and it doesn't really end so much as falling off a cliff. Then again, it's not done yet, so. :P

Going to put this on Megaupload, but if anyone knows some way (other than youtube) that I could post the music and embed a player for it in an entry I'll love you forever.

So, tonight I got a second score to over 30 seconds!! I like this one much better than the last one I was working on, but I should be able to play with that one more tomorrow night. I have to say I'm getting much further, much faster than I was expecting. With any luck, by the time I have a rough cut of my final film for my production class I'll be able to write a pretty good score for it.

WHAT THE FUCK IS WITH MY SHUFFLE?!

"Leaves From the Vine," that song Iroh sings in Avatar in the episode when he's visiting his son's final resting place, started playing as I was typing the following sentence while brainstorming for my film project:
"—RL counterpart of dream character has passed on, and protagonist is trying to cope with the loss"
The idea being that the protagonist is having conversations with a character in his dreams. This dream character is the same as someone the protagonist has some obsession with in real life, and that idea is just one of a couple that I've come up with so far as the reason for the obsession.

I...actually have 30secs worth of a score composed. It's not anything amazing, but it's something, and that's far more than I've accomplished until now in six months of trying.

Parents are coming Monday to bring me stuff/take me to dinner, kind of an early birthday thing. I positively dread the fact I'll have to see my father, especially since I haven't actually spoken to him--not significantly, anyway--since sometime late last year (hm...odd coincidence there, I stopped talking to someone else around the same time O.o). My Mom never does much to curb his words, so...I guess this is going to be the first chance he'll have to talk to me about moving up here, away from home.

Mom's going to bring me a sketchbook and my pencils (tch, here I am, constantly complaining that I can't draw, and...I want my drawing stuff, whut?). I tasked her with finding a portable drawing board as well, she said she'll try her best. She has been...ridiculously supportive, beyond anything I could've expected, since the campus visit to Columbia back at the end of January.

Gah...this is going to suck. If I get anywhere with drawing, and I end up liking animation, I'll have a choice to make. Which will I like better by the time I've finished my undergrad, directing, animating, or composing? As much as I'd love to go on for a Master's degree in each, that would be a waste of my time, and would be spending money I seriously doubt I'd be able to pay off in anything remotely resembling a reasonable fashion. I have two years before I have to pick one, but...it's already a bit daunting. I mean, all three would (hopefully) get me into making movies, but in radically different spheres for each, especially in the lower levels with animating and directing. At least Cinematography has been struck from the list. Much as I love it, I can't stand being unable to tell the director his idea sucks and will look terrible on-screen. Writing will only make it on if I get a Master's for directing here at Columbia, as the MFA focuses on the Writer/Director role. Writing's a bitch anyway, I'd rather stick to RPing and porn (yes, you pervs, I still write porn, and no, you pervs, I'm not linking you to any of it).

...Is it fate that every entry on LJ meant to be short will end up much longer than intended?

I just wasted three hours sitting and watching my other two group members do work that our instructor is going to tell us is useless. They didn't listen to me even once, and they have now tripled my work load. The director already fucked up the film treatment and made it twice as long as it should have been, and now it's three times as long. What's worse? Neither of the two group members want to meet with our instructor to discuss it, before I waste my fucking time.

Windows Update finally gave me the ability to read Japanese fonts back. (It's been missing for like...two years.) FINALLY.

Before anyone asks, yes, I installed the Japanese language pack when I first installed XP. One of the Windows Updates screwed things up, I guess.

My film treatment was one of the two in the class that our instructor picked for us to make for the first group project~

Too bad the writers of the treatments aren't allowed to work on the film based off them, but that's all right, I like the other treatment I'll have to work on anyway. ^_^

(Anyone who doesn't know--and I've no idea how many of you do or not--basically, a film treatment is like a..."pre-script." It has the characters, scenes, and actions all in paragraph form, 3rd person present tense, no dialogue, no camera movement.)

I now have a new reason to get my resume in shape, too. The Disney Store has a "Future Interest" form that puts you on a list for pending job openings, and I am totally doing that. Very, very happy I went there today. I don't need to make too many changes to my resume, I don't think, so I'm probably going to work on that soon, and haul my ass the 1.5 miles North to drop it off ASAP. XD The employees and the manager there seemed pretty willing to accommodate the interest for a job, too, which was actually sort of impressive, since most places don't like it when you ask about a position that has no availability. ...Okay, so I didn't actually ask, it actually went like this:
