Graphic Design and Illustration
I do digital illustration, vector graphics, and web design. Some projects I have worked on lately include accessible CSS themes for Lemmy and static site generators like Eleventy.
I have an academic background in psychology and neuroscience. My study areas were vision research and human perception. In terms of design, I research available options and find practical solutions.
I'm here because I want to make the web a better place, whether that's through designing something original or making a user interface easier to perceive and understand.

Testimonials
Travis went above and beyond all my expectations for this project. His illustrations were beautiful and thoughtful, reflecting the time and effort he puts into his work. He is organized, communicative and has a thorough process that is a joy to take part in. I live in Canada, and the time difference between us never hampered communication. He is absolutely worth every penny, and I would happily work with him again.

I contracted Travis for the development of a set of accessible themes for www.rblind.com. He was flexible, independent and dedicated, dealing with different technical challenges through extensive research and clear communication. His process was thorough, clearly outlined and expertly communicated. The final product proves beautiful design can and should be accessible. I can recommend working with Travis on web design projects like this. I'm confident he will be able to adapt just as quickly to other project-specific constraints and provide excellent results.

About Me
Expertise
- Graphic Design: A solid foundation in graphic design means I can apply my skills to solve many problems in digital and print formats.
- Illustration: I excel at drawing the natural world as well simplified or abstracted graphics such as cartoons, vector graphics, icons, or logos.
- Web Design: I have experience web development (HTML, CSS, some Javascript) and additional training in making websites accessible by following guidelines like the WCAG and the Principles of Universal Design.
Values
If you want to hire a designer who shares the same values as you, here are some of mine:
- Openness: I like to explain my decisions and process so you can follow my reasoning and form your own opinion.
- Fairness: Accessibility should be the default online (and offline), and information should be easy to access. Everyone should benefit from accumulated human knowledge and culture.
- Independence: My designs are original and human-made. I use a variety of open-source and public domain resources to develop my illustrations and designs.
