2012 was a pretty good year for me, here's hoping for an even better 2013 for all of us and the world.

I was going to do a year in review meme but apparently I am in no mood to Look Back On My Life This Year in any amount of detail. Personally it's been fairly stable except for September's news about shouldknobetter passing away; that was the lowest point of the year.

The epic trip to Japan (pics) was the highlight, and it was also great to catch up with my girls (and my favourite pocket drunkibear) at the WWoHP event in Orlando (pics).

Accomplishments, hmm. I took the JLPT (N4) earlier this month but results are not until March. I've developed and stuck to a nutritional plan and fitness program, as a result of which I've gained a bunch of muscle weight (strong like bull!) yet lost several dress sizes and am still shrinking (which is a little bit concerning since I don't really have anywhere left to shrink, so I'll have to up strength training and cut down on cardio in the next few months).

Fannishly, I did a lot of flailing on Tumblr/Twitter, kept up with my Bleach weekly recaps, wrote 1 Gintama fic (When You're Riding in a Time Machine Way Far Into the Future, Don't Stick Your Elbow Out the Window Or It Will Turn Into a Fossil; 24K words), and posted 3 terrible stick arts (first three under the crack tag). I also wrote 5 original shorts including a help_japan fill (and I have delivered on all obligations from the auction at this point).

I feel these tags sum me up quite famously, in fact.

Already had a glass of champagne to ring in the New Year in Moscow (we do this every year); now there's still an hour until the New Year in Tallinn (and then the Budapest New Year is right on its heels in 2 hours) so I am going to get a quick workout in before I become too tipsy to self-coordinate properly. I'll probably post some tiny New Year-themed ficlets/drabbles later tonight as I've done in past years, or maybe just sentences IDK.

As I do pretty much every year, I spent the trick-or-treating hours out of the house.

Reason 1 is that despite having a 7-month-old goddaughter who has me wrapped around her pinky finger (an often drool-covered finger... which is inexplicably not at all gross to me only because it's hers, wtf self), I am rather frightened of small humans, especially if they are sporting miniature fangs, wearing tiny capes, and/or carrying kid-sized weapons.

Reason 2 is that the 14+ teenagers who don't bother with costumes^* and show up in groups of 5 or 6 for free candy piss me the fuck off. Get a part-time job and buy your own goddamned candy, you lazy louts. And get off my lawn. You bastards.

^*If they're in costume, it's all good -- it's not their age that annoys me, it's the fact that they don't even bother pretending they're celebrating anything. :|

Now that all my free time is not spent bent over my sewing machine and various crafty projects for cosplay, I would like to post more. But none of my in-progress fics are ready yet, and I am too lazy to think of other stuff to post about. Please rec me topics! Or fun memes. :3?

OMG OMG OMG A DANCE WITH DRAGONS POSSIBLY COMING OUT IN SEPTEMBER! *\o/* *\o/* *\o/* Well, he still wasn't done with the book in the middle of last month but if he finishes by the end of this month, it'll come! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee omg I have not been this excited since the lead-up to DH. :D :D

I had better survive the zombie invasion our office seems to be undergoing at the moment. I'm just sayin'. :|

In other news, happy Friday the 13th! Best day of the year to buy lottery tickets. (:

I was totally going to post about something today but I forgot what I wanted to post about. It might or might not have had something to do with all these zombies.

Just kidding. The zombies are coming on June 13th. Last year. But! Tomorrow is International Zombie Day (for my flist tells me so). I shall celebrate by going to work and doing my best not to become a zombie (or a zmobie). How 'bout you?

You know, I'm glad I didn't take my usual route home -- if I had, I would never have seen the headless Rottweiler on the side of the road.

I drop speed, roll up my windows, throw my cigarette butt in my Coke can and tilt my headlights -- and there they were, about six or seven of them by the looks of it. Stupid motherfuckers, too -- they're advancing! I mean, hi, you're a bunch of disintegrating corpses with zero intelligence unless you're an Area 51 breed.

I'm encased in 1.5 tonnes of black steel, and you bet your next meal I'm not letting you anywhere near the windows, not with this much room between us. There's a sharp curve right behind them (maybe they're not as stupid as all that), but I'll worry about that later. Brace myself for impact, floor it.

Sorry, boys. Bella's not content with frogs any more; zombies make much better sport.

"Your dog's dead," I tell my neighbour as I sprint to the doors.

He stares at me with a vacant expression, and I'm thinking, oh shit oh shit oh shit, and get this, there's a shotgun in his hand! But then he's got tears -- this guy never, I mean. God. "I know," he says to me. "I loved that dog, man. Fucking undead sonsabitches."

I glance back at Bella; she's gonna need body work after this shit. "Got another shotgun?"

One of his teeth glints gold. "You betcha."
