What the fuck does it matter if the URL is different if the old one redirects to the new one? Do some people really love the look of pics.livejournal.com/user/blahblah/29384sdjfh23742 so much that they can't bear to be parted from it? I mean, what the actual fuck -- how is this a real problem?

Anyone still crying that public cross-posting violates privacy/copyright/the Nth amendment and should not be allowed? Be less ridiculous, please.

These days even someone with the most rudimentary knowledge of programming web applications can write some code in about 20 minutes to export and/or repost any publicly available RSS feed. In an hour, they can write an app to export and/or repost any public Web site, period. This is one of the ways in which the WWW was always intended to work.

If you don't want your shit reposted by anyone ever at all, lock it down. LiveJournal is not your babysitter.

If you send another user a private message and request a reply, please make sure you have your PM privacy options set so that your recipient actually can reply to your message and doesn't get a "message cannot be sent because of user privacy settings" notification when they try to send you a reply. The maximum I will do is go to your LJ profile to see if there's an e-mail address listed. If not, well. I'd say sorry, but I'm not!

*disables private messages altogether* I'm reachable via furiosity@lj, and since LJ seems to now require that you get all your notifications in your inbox, I'm always afraid I'll accidentally delete a PM when I'm mass-deleting comment notifications (I get those through e-mail and never use the inbox for them). Though the inbox is a good place to look if you're not getting your comment notifications via e-mail!

Also, Firefox doesn't think "inbox" is a word. Get with the times, Firefox. :|

unexpectedly busy day at work is unexpectedly busy! -_- Of course, with my luck, tomorrow morning will be slow as hell and I will be annoyed.

Because!

LIVEJOURNAL WILL BE DOWN TOMORROW. They say it's for 4 hours but really, just think of it as 7. That way if they're on schedule, you'll be pleasantly surprised, and if something goes wrong (and something might well do, whether due to a renegade doughnut ending up in the wrong place or just plain old human error) then at least you'll be prepared.

Do read the news post and get their new IPs white-listed if you have control over your spam filters. I'll just hope Gmail will be on the ball. And don't create irate "I CANNOT POST TO MY JOURNAL!"/"FANDOMSECRETS IS NOT LOADING!"/"IT'S NOT LETTING ME UPLOAD THE 50 ICONS I MADE IN CELEBRATION OF LJ'S RETURN" support tickets immediately after LJ comes back up. Because the news post clearly states there will be slowness/annoyance after the site is live again. Seriously, just read it. :P

In other news, heheh, LJ's new profile went live. Massive surge of complaints in 3... 2... 1... :P

See, I figured they would go live with it one way or another, so I chose to beta-test it when they gave us the opportunity. Now I don't even remember what the old profile page looked like anymore. I neither like nor dislike the new profile page; it's just a profile page. I rarely use it in the first place so it's kind of a non-issue for me. Do you like it? Hate it? Tell auntie f all about it. XD

I also really like the Last.fm add-on! No more typing into the "Current Music" box, whee! :D Though I wonder why they changed Porno Graffiti (the band name) into katakana but didn't change the song title -- is the rōmaji wrong? I NEED TO LEARN JAPANESE.
