What does VVPAT mean?

Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) is an add-on system attached to the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) that allows the voters to verify that their vote was cast correctly, and to provide a means to audit the stored electronic results in the Electronic Voting Machine. During each vote, the printer in the VVPAT provides the voter with a receipt that allows the voter to verify his/her vote. The receipt contains the name of the candidate for whom the vote has been cast and the election symbol of the candidate.
