What does SECAM mean?

Système en Couleur à Mémoire (SECAM) also know as Séquentielle Couleur à Mémoire, or Sequential Colour avec Mémoire which means “Sequential Color With Memory” is an analog color television system first used in France. SECAM uses the same resolution as PAL (625 TV Lines) but transmits the color information sequentially, ie R-Y on one line and B-Y on the next line sequentially. SECAM is used sparingly around the world and can be found in France, parts of Greece, Eastern Europe, Russia, Africa and a few other parts of the world.
