QWERTY QWERTY is a keyboard layout, the arrangement of keys on a computer keyboard or typewriter. The name “QWERTY” derives from the order of the first six keys on the top left letter row of the keyboard (Q, W, E, R, T, and Y). QWERTY keyboard was designed by Christopher Sholes, the inventor of the typewriter.
