What does QD-OLED mean?

Quantum Dot OLED (QD-OLED) is a type of Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) display that uses Quantum Dots (QD) to produce more accurate and vibrant colors.
Quantum dots are very small semiconductor particles, when hit by light, emit their own colored light. QD can be both photo-active (photoluminescent) and electro-active (electroluminescent). The color they emit depends on their size. Thus by controlling the size and composition of QD, it is possible to make them emit light in a specific range of colors.
QD-OLED provides accurate and vibrant color reproduction and greater brightness than traditional OLED displays.
