Secret Intelligence Service (SIS), commonly known as Military Intelligence, Section 6 (MI6 ) is the government agency which supplies British Government with foreign intelligence.
During the First World War, British secret services were divided into numbered sections named Military Intelligence (MI), department number x, abbreviated to MIx such as MI6 for British foreign intelligence service.
