What does MFD mean?
Microfarad (MFD, mFd, µF, mF) is a unit of electrical capacitance. It was common practice for older capacitors to be marked as MFD or mFd either for machinery difficulty to produce the µ symbol print on the casing or for other manufacturer-specific reasons.
Note:
Some older capacitor manufacturers used mF in place of uF on their capacitors. There is some confusion here because mFd can be misinterpreted as milliFarad rather than microFarad, yet milliFarad is not a frequency used range for many types of capacitors.
