What does G-CSF mean?

Granulocyte-Colony Stimulating Factor (G-CSF or GCSF) is a glycoprotein that stimulates the bone marrow to produce granulocytes and stem cells and release them into the bloodstream.
G-CSF is used as a medicine to treat and prevent neutropenia, which is a condition characterized by an abnormally low count of neutrophils, a type of white blood cell.
Neutropenia can be caused by various factors, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and certain blood disorders.
