What does FinFET mean?
Fin Field Effect Transistor (FinFET) is a type of multi-gate Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor (MOSFET). A multi-gate transistor incorporates more than one gate in to one single device. FinFET design uses a conducting channel that rises above the level of the insulator, creating a thin silicon structure, shaped like a fin, hence the name FinFET. FinFET is smaller, consumes less energy and have significantly faster switching times than a normal MOSFET.
