What does CD mean?
Circular Dichroism (CD) is dichroism involving circularly polarized light, that is the difference in absorbance of right- and left-circularly polarized light by a substance. It is used for the determination of the asymmetry of a molecule. CD Spectroscopy measures differences in the absorption of left-handed polarized light versus right-handed polarized light which arises due to structural asymmetry.
