What does BiPAP mean?

Biphasic Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP or BPAP), also known as Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP), is a type of Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) ventilation that delivers two different levels of positive airway pressure during each respiratory cycle. It provides a higher level of pressure during inhalation to assist with breathing effort, and a lower level of pressure during exhalation to make it easier for the patient to breathe out.
BiPAP is commonly used to treat respiratory failure, and other respiratory conditions that require additional support to maintain proper breathing.
