What can you tell us John of Damascus on the formation of the Qur'anic corpus? We will study, therefore, the Qur'anic quotations contained in this ancient source taking the Qur'an as a fully inserted text in space and time of Late Antiquity.
To do this, in the first chapter we will discuss on the Late Antiquity paradigm and the problem of the sources in this particular field of study. We will also provide a context of Late Syrian Antiquity in the transition from the Byzantine era to the Umayyad Caliphate. In the second chapter we present a biography of John of Damascus, underlining the
sources, the problems and the points most interesting to us. Still, in the third chapter, we'll take a look at the works of our author, focusing on our source, his issues, his content, and the studies on it. Finally, we will analyze the citations and references to the Qur'an in chapter 100 of the Пερὶ αἱρέσεως, taking some conclusions.
