The work of developing Inter rational Standards is carried out through ISO technical committees. Every member body interested in @ subject for which 2 technical committee has been set up has the right to be represented on that committee, International organizations, governmental ‘and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work Draft International Standards adopted by the technical committees ore circulated to the member bodies for approval before their acceptance as International Standards by the ISO Coun. International Standard ISO 484/2 was developed by Technical Comittee ISO/TC 8, Shipbuilding, and was circulated to the member bodies in November 1978. It has been approved by the member bodies of the following countries Australia ‘ance Korea, Rep. of Germany, FR. Field of application ‘his international Standard applies to monabloc, built-up and, controllable pitch propeliers 3. The design pitch is the pitch of the reference fi defined below. ‘The design pitch line of a section is a hekcal reference line for the section in question for which the section ordinates for the face and the back are given. It could be a ling joining the nose and tail of the section but may bbe any other conveniently placed helical line 7.6 The local pitch ot a point B (figure 1) io determined by _meesuring the difference in height between two points Pand Q situated at eguat distances from point B and on either side Of the latter (BP = BO) and by mukiptving the difference in 360 height by 2 . This shat! be compared with the focal piteh as ‘calculated from the face offsets for the same points, There shall be four pitch measurements for class S, three for class |, and two for class Il, These measurements shall be cor secutive (the intial point of ench mesaurement coinciding with the final point of the adjacent measurement). Each measure- ment span shall be sulficien'ly tong to maintain adequate accuracy in the pitch measurement in compliance with clause 18. Where necessary the number of measurements may bo reduced in order to comply with the latter requirement 7.7. The pitch per radius end per blade is determined for each radius by mukiplying the difference in height between the 7.8 The mean pitch per blade is defined as the arithmetic mean of the pitches per radius for the blade in question. 7.9 The mean pitch for the screw propeller is defined as the arithmetic mean of the mean pitches per blade. 8 Tolerances on the extreme radius of the screw propeller B.1.
