Where this is required, these critical spares will be included with any request
for quotation for equipment supply.
In order to minimize the spares holding, minimize commissioning time and
smooth operation, particularly during the early operational life of the facilities,
opportunities will be sought to purchase similar equipment to that used on other
Contractor facilities. In this context, similar will mean the same type, the same
Supplier or the same model.
Each enquiry for mechanical equipment may be accompanied by an approved
sub-suppliers list for ancillary items such as transmitters, switches, solenoids,
cable rack and tray and cable.
Standardization of equipment, where possible, should be achieved in the EPC
phase. The use of approved sub-suppliers lists for bulks on equipment means
that all of the bulks across the facility, irrespective of whether they are part of
the major bulk purchase order, or part of Supplier equipment, will be the same
from the same Supplier. The objective is reduced spares holding and improved
reliability. Common items across the facility such as mechanical seals, couplings,
electric motors, instrumentation and fittings, cable tray etc. should be
standardized and indicated on the approved sub-suppliers list issued to Supplier.
LUBRICANTS
A preferred supplier for all lubricating oils, greases and hydraulic oil may be
required by the contractor. The Supplier should be informed of this in the
enquiry. The supplier should then nominate the preferred lubricant product from
the lubricant supplier’s inventory and this should be recorded on all supplier
issued lubricant/grease schedules. If a suitable lubricating oil; grease or
hydraulic oil is not available from the Contractors preferred supplier, then the
equipment supplier should provide a justification in writing for Contractor
approval for selection of a lubricant from a non-approved lubricant supplier.
6.5. EQUIPMENT SELECTION
Selection should be based on:
- Life cycle costs
- Operational flexibility.

Total cost of ownership. This includes equipment capital cost (CAPEX), cost of
spares, utility and fuel requirements, maintenance and lost revenue (production)
costs.
- Reliability and life cycle data. This includes the following information for
main equipment and for any sub components:
- MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure)
- MTTR (Mean Time To Repair)
- MTBO (Mean Time Between Overhauls)
- MTTO (Mean Time To Overhaul)
- Supplier support during the life of the equipment.

shall have the same chemical composition as the base material and shall be
removed after completion of welding.
The skirt shall be attached to the bottom head and base ring by continuous
weld. Connection between skirt and vessel head shall be made with a smooth
flat face weld. The width of weld shall be at least equal the skirt thickness and
height shall be twice its width.
Welding procedure shall be submitted and reviewed before any welding
fabrication starts.
8.3. SURFACE PREPARATION, CLEANING AND PAINTING
Each vessel shall be thoroughly cleaned inside and outside and shall be free
from grease, weld spatter, scale, slag, rust, and any other foreign matter.

Vessels that are specified to be painted shall have all exterior surfaces coated
including inside of skirt and exterior of bottom head, in accordance with
applicable paint specifications.
All stainless steel surfaces (including welds) shall be in a passivated condition.
Painting shall be performed after vessel pressure testing.
8.4. PRESSURE TEST
Vessels shall be hydrostatically tested at the test pressure specified on the
vessel data sheet.
The test procedure shall be in accordance with the ASME Code.
The test medium for hydrostatic testing shall be potable water. Testing of vessels
or components made of austenitic stainless steel materials shall be conducted
with water containing no more than 50 ppm chloride. Water containing more than 50
ppm but no more than 250 ppm chloride may be used only if the duration of the test
procedure is 72 hours or less and includes rinsing with water containing less
than 50 ppm chloride.
The final pressure test shall be held for a sufficient time of inspection and as
minimum of one hour, or as specified purchase order and/or approved drawings.
Leak test of reinforcing pads shall be performed in accordance with the ASME
Code Section V.
Each reinforcing pad shall have 1 test hole, tapped for 1/4 NPT, and located at
least 45 degrees off the longitudinal axis of the vessel. This applies to each pad
or segment of a multiple piece pad. The welds of each pad or segment shall be
given an air and bubble solution pressure test before the test of the vessel. The
test holes shall be left open for use as telltale holes. They shall be filled with
corrosion inhibiting grease after testing of vessel.
Pressure Gauge range should be about twice the Test Pressure, However, in any
case it shall not be lower than 1.5 times and not higher than 4 times the Test
Pressure.
9. DOCUMENTATION
All documents issued by the Supplier shall be in accordance with the material
requisition.
10. SPARE PARTS
Suppliers shall quote for 2 Years Spares in accordance with material requisition.
