Animal Studies Committee & Reading Group
Faculty Contact: David Ouellette
The Animal Studies Committee seeks to engage in the ongoing interdisciplinary conversation about animals, animal ethics, and human-animal relationships. It provides a platform at the College of DuPage for the critical exploration of posthumanism and related areas through visiting scholars, films, exhibitions, discussions, and other activities.

Africa and Africa Diaspora Committee

Africa and Africa Diaspora Committee promotes and educates about cultures, histories, and traditions from Africa and those resulting from the historic movement of African people to other places throughout the world.

Asia Committee
Faculty Contact: Naheed Rouf
Asia Committee seeks to foster a richer understanding and appreciation of the cultures of Asia through interdisciplinary events that incorporate such fields as history, economics, anthropology, philosophy, psychology, art, literature, and political science.

Constitution Day Committee
Faculty Contact: Tauya Forst
This state-mandated committee seeks to involve cross-discipline faculty in the celebration and awareness of the United States Constitution and its applicability to current topics.

European Studies Committee
Faculty Contact: Miglena Nikolova
ESC plans both on-campus and off-campus European-themed events for COD students (faculty, staff, and administrators, as well as non-COD community members, are eligible to participate in these events as well). COD students who attend ESC-sponsored off-campus events generally receive discounted (or free) admission to the event, and also free round-trip bus transportation.

Global Education Advisory Committee
Faculty Contact: Julia diLiberti
Mission: To provide and engage in innovative, proven, and/or sustained opportunities for Global Education through courses, experiences, programs, and other opportunities available through the college. These experiences will allow participants to cultivate a greater knowledge of global systems and of their place in them. Practices and documents will be ever-evolving to remain viable, current, and relevant. Meets the first and third Monday of each month from 3:30-5:00 p.m.

Latin American Studies Committee
Faculty Contact: Maureen Heffern Ponicki and Shannon Delgado
Latin America Studies Committee promotes understanding and appreciation of Latin American countries and cultures through lectures, field trips, and performing arts. Meets once a month – meeting determined at beginning of semester. Reach out if interested in joining.

Learning Communities Committee
Faculty Contact: Jim Allen
Our committee provides guidance and support to faculty teaching learning communities (LCs), develops and promotes LCs campus-wide, and approves faculty proposals for LCs. Meets once a month (days/times vary based on member availability).

Middle East Committee
Faculty Contact: Les Wolf
Middle East Committee explores the richly diverse cultures of the region and presents perspectives on current events through an academic lens.

Native American Studies Committee
Faculty contact: John Paris
Native American Studies Committee fosters education in Native American history, culture and literature by sponsoring public events that give Native American educators, artists and spokespersons a forum for cross-cultural sharing.

Visioning the Future of Higher Education
Faculty contact: Jason Snart
A think-tank style, discussion based group that considers broadly the field of higher education and what it might look like in the near, middle, and long terms.
