  1. Can anyone offer advice on using xbox360ce for an arcade cab using a xinmotech decoder? It will set up and configure within launchbox initially, but will stop working randomly. Is there a better alternative, a setting I'm missing? Thank you.
  2. Hello Some images and videos on the launchbox forums aren't working as expected. There are some broken images and videos that it is working before but now isn't working There are some kind of update in the forum? If so why did this happen? Can Someone fix this? Thanks
  3. Hello, I'm trying to use an EG Starts joystick to navigate through Big Box, but Big Box does not recognize my joystick inputs when attempting to map inputs. Big Box recognizes all of my arcade buttons and keyboard, just not the joystick. The arcade buttons and joystick are all plugged into the same board, which is then connected to a Windows 10 PC via USB. The driver is installed correctly since all of my emulators recognize the joystick when mapping controls and I'm able to play games just fine. It's just Big Box that doesn't recognize the joystick inputs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm also open to acquiring different joysticks that are known to work with Big Box if needed. Thanks!
  4. Hey guys. Since I updated from v13.18 to v13.20 I’ve been having this weird bug where BigBox doesn’t close properly if I have the startup screen enabled for emulators with the exception of Retroarch. I thought it might’ve been a bug on v13.20, but it still happens on v13.21. I will attach two videos: One with the startup screen disabled, and the other where it’s enabled and I demonstrate this issue. As I shown in the second video, if I have the startup screen enabled and then I close BigBox, it doesn’t close properly (or perhaps creates a second instance) as you can still hear the background music and I have to end the program via task manager. Like I said, Retroarch is unaffected by this issue, but it happens with every other emulator, which is odd since all emulators share the same settings for the startup screen, they just have different startup delay. I don't think this is an emulator issue since the emulators close just fine, it's BigBox that is not shutting down properly. If I disable startup screens all together it will (pretty self-explanatory) get rid of this problem but I want to keep the startup screens enabled. I'd like to not downgrade to a previous version, so I'll appreciate any help with this. Thank you. 1) STARTUP SCREEN DISABLED.mp4 2) STARTUP SCREEN ENABLED.mp4
  5. Hello I use only the GameType search option without write the name of the game for how many games the database have, because the database don't have statistics, but days ago using only the search options without write the name of the game isn't working Can someone fix it? Thanks
  6. Hi! Love the X-Arcade Tankstick max. Purchased late December 2024 - also purchased and have installed the spinner upgrade (appears that the board replaced might already have been the upgraded board - If I remember correctly, both boards indicate v 3.0 on the bottom so I think it may already have been upgraded - oh well.) Have crossposted this (originally in 'noobs' because, well - noob) as think it might be a better fit in the troubleshooting forum. Regarding getting spinners and trackball working in-game in MAME, there are a LOT of discussions online about folks having difficulty getting these recognized within Mame games running in LaunchBox / BigBox. I just can't seem to find a clear walk through on troubleshooting steps. Have downloaded and run the java xarcade test program - inputs work passing keyboard presses to Windows as expected. Spinners work independently (x and y axis mouse movement being passed to OS) and trackball works to move mouse pointer (in all directions also in the OS - outside of Launchbox / mame) but neither the trackball nor the spinners seem to be passing thru to MAME or Launchbox once a game is started (e.g. missile command, tempest, golden tee, etc.) Have manipulated mame config file and LaunchBox / BigBox config, but apparently I haven't yet found the right combination of troubleshooting steps or stumbled on the right combination of settings to get either (trackball or spinners) working in-game. Does anyone have access to a clear walkthrough of steps I should be taking to troubleshoot the issues with these? If you could share something like that it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading and I look forward to continuing the discussion! Bfraggins.
  7. I'm having an issue launcing Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for Sega Dreamcast. Other DC games launch fine, but I can't get MvC2 to launch. It's worked fine in the past. In Task Manager I can see the retroarch.exe process start, then stop after a few seconds. After poking around at it for the last hour I determined that I could load the game fine if I did it manually from within Retroarch, but it didn't load if I ran it from Launchbox. Other Dreamcast games had no issue loading from Launchbox using the same core. This led me to believe it was possibly something in Launchbox. It's been awhile since I've played the game (7-8 months) and my Launchbox has been updated several times since then. On a hunch I decided to install a new instance of Launchbox in a different location, but using an older installer from around a time I know I'd successfully played it (13.12). I imported the game, let Launchbox install RetroArch, and copied the bios files over. The game launched fine. I then updated Launchbox to 13.18 and after doing so the game no longer launched. To see if the issue was caused by something during the update process, I then deleted the installation and did a fresh install of 13.18. The game would not launch. I have a mini PC with 13.16 on it which I tried and it didn't work on that either. I did a fresh install of 13.16 on my desktop and it also would not launch. Next, I deleted the 13.16 installation and installed 13.15. The game would not launch in this version either. Finally I deleted the install and installed 13.14. The game launched normally. So it would seem that the issue was introduced starting with 13.15. Is this a known issue? I was searching around and couldn't find anything about it, but I can repeat the problem on several different computers. **EDIT** I can confirm that I re-ran the 13.14 setup to downgraded the 13.16 install on my mini PC and the game launched successfully again in 13.14.

  9. Linking to depencies files is returning an error stating copy failed file is in use by another process. When playing a game a warning about missing depencies appears even if the file is in the correct location. Games will no longer play. On Intellivision i can cut and paste the files to a different folder outside of retroarch/system and the link function will work and the games will as well. Not so lucky with The Odyessy 2 bios's. I can link them in dependencies when in a different folder but the games when run will now only show a score uptop and a line thru the middle. There seems to be an issue with the linking of files in the retroarch system folder. Retroarch is not running when linking. Also retroarch shows the needed files are there when checking the core info. What has happened?? These 2 emulators not working in latest version of Launchbox Android either
  10. Hi everybody, long time Launchbox user here. I have searched up and down in the forums as well as Google search. I have tried every single suggestion given that I could find. I am using a Samsung Galaxy Z fold 6 running Android 14 (One UI 6.1.1) I am also using an external 2 terabyte Samsung USB-C - SSD Drive. All of my games are on this ssd. My mame roms are a full set updated to the latest 2.72. Every single game on the SSD works just fine as is on my desktop version of Launchbox with Retroarch. Retroarch was downloaded from their site and I installed the nightly android version and not the Google play store versions. I have tried all other versions, just in case anybody was wondering. I also have installed the latest Launchbox for Android. Each time I have made an attempt, I have installed all cores in RetroArch as well as core system files and Retroarch updates. I am using the proper core - Mamearcade_libreto.so - (Arcade (Mame) - Mame (Git) as shown in RetroArch as the associated core. The Mame Bios and drivers have been tried in various combinations both zipped and extracted in different attempts (one way at a time or in some attempts with both) into the rRetroarch system folder as well as my Mame rom files. The bios and drivers are also the latest version 2.72. I have also tried with no downloaded bios and drivers as well. Upon failure I have cleared both the data and cache for both installs and then uninstalled both of the apps, also deleting the remaining folders. Also, when trying to have Launchbox install RetroArch and its cores, instead of downloading from RetroArch directly, I get the same results. As an extra troubleshooting measure I even installed a copy of the RetroArch system folder into the RetroArch folder that Launchbox makes in the LaunchBox\Emulators\RetroArch folder where it copies the cores when launched. I have tried everything I can think of including: Copying all the files to the external drive and also changing the Launchbox data file location. This results in a white screen telling me Retroarch cannot find the LaunchBox\Emulators\Retroarch\Core folder location. Probably because RetroArch cannot access the external exfat formatted USB drive shown as "mnt/media_rw/xxxx-xxxx" instead of how android sees SD cards as "storage". Also I have edited the configuration file of retroarch and changd the line "GUI_browser location" from "Default" to exactly where my games are. I have even utilized the app "Shizuku" to access the "Android\Data\User\0\com.retroarch" folder to copy the config directly inside. Within, Retroarch the changes do show when I goto "Directory\FileBrowser" in the GUI, but if i click into it, it says" No Items". No matter what I've tried, my results remain the same as the Topic Title shows unfortunately. Except that after the first attempt of running a game, the White Retroarch sideloading message doesn't appear anymore, it just goes straight to black. Probably cause it sees the core in the Launchbox folder. Why it uses the cores downloaded and stored in Launchbox instead of it's own "com.retroarch\cores\" folder is beyond me, as it uses them when I run it standalone. So please I am racking my brain at this point and just want this to work. A whole week, day and night whenever I had time, I used all of it messing around fussin about and I am beyond annoyed at this point and probably just going to give up on Retroarch Android and install stand alones, but i really don't want to go that route, as I want a file system I can just easily copy over to other devices, such as my new Retroid Pocket 5. Waiting on the Android export from LaunchBox now to export to an SD. Which there's a whole lot of fixes that are needed in that export system as well. That's a whole nother f*** fest waste of my time. Really, no pause button? can't add into a Launchbox folder to continue after an error occurs? Jeesh, anyways that I will get into elsewhere, for right now I just want this to work. Btw, just to be clear, If I copy a game file to the internal memory and point Retroarch to it, it works fine but never through Launchbox. Interestingly when I dared choose to extract the zips in the Lauchbox emulators option, on certain systems, like Super Nintendo for instance, some of those games will run just fine with RetroArch. I am assuming because it extracts the game to a local internal folder. However this is not the case with Mame roms and others. When installing both apps I did in fact give permissions as requested. I think what Launchbox could do as a workaround is maybe copy the game to the internal local folder as an option and keep unzip as a second option and then maybe it would work. I guess maybe even a third option to either delete the local stored game from the temp after play as well, as copying a game into temp takes time and maybe you don't want to do it every time, you play a certain game. IDK. So, finally In an effort to save time in further explanation, but to be as complete as I can, I am now going to copy and paste, the very best basic instructions I used, which was posted in the forums by user @kimonde to install everything. Posted December 28, 2023 (edited) Hi there! These are my steps and it worked for me, which I have done on the Nvidia Shield Pro 2019. 1.) First uninstall Retroarch and LaunchBox and delete the leftover folders for Retroarch and Launchbox including your License.xml (get the license if you haven't as the developers more than deserve it!) file as well. So you should have nothing installed at this point. 2.) Get LaunchBox v1.11.apk and download RetroArch.apk from the following website: Under the Android section select the RetroArch.apk. Don't download the 64-bit or 32-Bit, I think the RetroArch.apk has those elements as part of the install. 3.) Install RetroArch.apk first then update all your cores. Main Menu>Online Updater>Download Cores (all of them with # against)>Update cores again, it will updated a couple after you have down all the others initially. Then select>Core Systems File Downloader>Downlaod these .zip files. Configure your joypad and any other settings and save your settings to the global, Main Menu>Configuration File>Save Current Configuration 3.) Install LaunchBox and add your License.xml file. 4.) I am using the Mame 0.261 merged romset. You can find it with a little digging online... 5.) Create a folder on your external device or wherever and copy all roms to this folder. In my case I created a folder called 'mame' on my external ssd and copied all there. This is of course connected directly to my Nvidia Shield. 6.) Run LaunchBox and import the games by pointing to the folder you created where you copied all the mame roms to. The other settings I used were 'Arcade' and 'World' for the import then let it dop its importing stuff. It will then restart LB and you can then select the games. 7.) Now the important bit! When you launch your first game it will ask you to select a version of RetroArch and a specific core. By default it selects 'RetroArch64', change this to 'RetroArch' Then for your core select 'mamearcade_libretro_android.so' Launch your game and it should work, it did for me! I'm pretty sure I could have just said what I did in step 7 but hopefully this will help someone else as I have been doing this for hours...lol. Good luck and hope it works for you! Edited December 28, 2023 by kimondevil This should work without question, but for reasons that may even be Android 14 related, don't work for me. It's 2024 yaa'll this should be a simple process and LaunchBox for Android and RetroArch should be the way but it's not there yet. If I did something wrong or haven't tried something outside of giving up on these two apps, please let me know. I bought me a Gamesir G8+ just to enjoy my new setup and this has completely bombed thus far.
  11. Hello all, I've recently downloaded and installed Simple64, having heard it works way better than most previous 64 emulators. It does seem really good so far, but I can't get the games to launch through Launchbox. If I launch a game, the emulator opens, but it doesn't go further than that. Is there an additional setup step I need to do? I've attached my settings from Launchbox here. Any help would be very appreciated.
  12. I have some cover images on roms, well they all do but only some are popping up. I have to click on each one that doesn't have the picture popping up on them, pressing edit and pressing ok. Mind I have over a 1000 roms and 90 percent of them have this problem. This has only happened for gameboy advance but that is also my biggest collection of roms.
  13. Over the last few days my games in BigBox have EXTREME input delay. From what I’ve tested it’s only with Mame and Retroarch platforms. However it is only input delay. The games are running at full speed, music and all, and looking at my task manager everything seems normal. If I boot up the arcade versions of Ms. PAC-Man or Street Fighter 3 with Mame, say I go left, then right, then left. The inputs will work for the first few. Then I’ll either get inputs receiving a whole 10+ seconds after inputting them or they won’t input at all. Same with NES or Atari Jaguar or any other system I’ve tested that uses RetroArch. Also, oddly the same with SEGA Naomi at well, which is using Demul. Regardless of if I use an Xbox controller or arcade buttons/keyboard controls on these emulators I get extreme input delay, even in Mame and Retroarch’s settings. Here is all I’ve troubleshooted so far: It’s not a controller problem since it’s happening with multiple controllers. Its not a hardware problem that I know of because everything looks normal with no spikes in task manager It ONLY happens when booting these emulators through BIG Box. Launchbox works perfectly fine like normal, booting the emulators straight through RocketLauncher works fine, and the emulators on their own work perfectly fine. The BIG Box menu UI does NOT slow down. It’s only the games themselves and their emulator’s menus that do. Once I back out of the game everything’s fine again. I do not think it is some weird settings change either considering I restored a backup of when BigBox was working (to my knowledge) and the issue persists. I could be wrong on this though as I have not used BigBox as much recently before this. It is also not the work of some specific BigBox theme. No matter what themes I use or how many times I refresh image caches and what-not the issue persists. any ideas?? Help would be much appreciated.
  14. Summary Within LaunchBox, launching a compressed zip game, which opened RetroArch, was very slow (40+ seconds). I discovered that I had two file protection services on: my normal Eset Smart Security (antivirus) and NordVPN with its File protection option turned on. Turning off NordVPN File protection made things run smoothly again. I'm hoping this information will save others time. Side issue I later noticed that just copying zip files among various different SSDs was very slow (would calculate for many seconds and then cap out around 550 Kb/s), but copying other file types (like large video files) was nearly instantaneous. Troubleshooting I'm on LaunchBox 13.14. For debugging purposes, I turned on logging: Tools > Options > General > Debugging > Enable Debug Logs check box. In the log files, I confirmed that the time between trying to launch a game and having the zip finish extracting was in the tens of seconds. Ignore this kind of error. It's apparently a Microsoft Windows benign error per this thread: "Options taking forever to open on LB & BB 13.6" https://forums.launchbox-app.com/topic/75266-options-taking-forever-to-open-on-lb-bb-136 2024-06-23 12:22:18 AM FIRST CHANCE EXCEPTION: Could not load file or assembly 'F:\LaunchBox\Core\Unbroken.LaunchBox.Windows.XmlSerializers.dll'. The system cannot find the file specified. at System.Runtime.Loader.AssemblyLoadContext.LoadFromPath(IntPtr ptrNativeAssemblyLoadContext, String ilPath, String niPath, ObjectHandleOnStack retAssembly) I then saw this issue regarding 7-Zip. 2024-06-23 12:23:53 AM FIRST CHANCE EXCEPTION: Could not find file 'F:\LaunchBox\ThirdParty\7-Zip\Temp\link'. at Microsoft.Win32.SafeHandles.SafeFileHandle.CreateFile(String fullPath, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share, FileOptions options) I went to <LaunchBox directory>\Plugins and moved the ArchiveCacheManager folder out in case that was causing issues. That didn't fix the issue, so I moved it back. I went to Tools > Manage > Emulators to open Retroarch settings. I unchecked the "Extract ROM archives before running" check box. (I can't remember why I normally have this checked. Perhaps it's because some cores don't support compressed files, or perhaps I have a mixture of zip and 7z files, or perhaps some later-generation consoles for CD games require extraction.) Anyway, unchecking the box made things perform correctly. I was ready to be content with that. Later on, I was testing out copying around 20 of the zipped ROM files from one directory to another (across different SSDs) for backup purposes. I noticed that Windows copied the files very slowly. I restarted the computer in safe mode and no longer had the slowness. Back in normal mode, the slowness occurred again. (Sometimes the zip files would copy super fast as expected, but most of the time they would be slow and I'd cancel out. The occasional fast copy was probably just a fluke.) Given that safe mode disables most applications, I figured I should check my antivirus settings. In Eset Smart Security, I went to Setup > Advanced Setup > Cloud-based protection. Toggling off Enable ESET LiveGuard didn't fix my issue. I found this post: "Eset slowing down windows 10 copy/paste to a crawl" https://forum.eset.com/topic/39788-eset-slowing-down-windows-10-copypaste-to-a-crawl/ That was the answer. Turning off NordVPN File protection fixed the zip file copying and thus also the LaunchBox slowness. (I was able to recheck the "Extract ROM archives before running" check box to turn that back on.)
  15. I'm running into issues where when I stop either LB or BB it is coming to a point where it crashes because it is trying to create a path to E:\Emulators\LaunchBox\Music\Platform (I put the generic platform because I've seen the issue now with two different platforms in the error message the issue is this tablet only has two drives C and D so of course the program trying to install anything to an E drive will cause an issue I perfectly understand that. I've used NotePad++ and opened every XML in LB folder and can't find anything looking for any type of E; path so this error is so weird.
  16. In Bigbox, the music will autoplay for some titles and not others. This is despite the fact Bigbox clearly finds the music successfully. Videos of said behaviour: *Edit: I first show the music plays in Launchbox. Then I move into Bigbox and show the music doesn't auto play despite Bigbox finding the music successfully when I click the "Play Music" for a given title.* Picture of my Bigbox sound settings and log file are attached. I am using the latest version of Launchbox. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Debug 2020-04-15 09-30-02 AM.log
  17. Having a problem with big box where my screen cuts out any time a change is made on screen. So if I'm viewing my platform wheel and move it up or down the screen will go black for a few seconds then come back on, I don't lose sound, only video. Or if I press escape to get to the menu the same thing happens. I tried plugging into a different port on my video card and swapping monitor cables but neither worked long. I don't believe its a video card problem because it doesn't happen at all while running any other software or videos. Any thoughts to what could be causing this? Windows 10 machine, gpu is AMD RX570. 20230709_152916_1.mp4
  18. any ideas? Fresh install, imported my roms , music etc from previous version by replacing dirs. The theme music on game selection is spot on, but when i run retroarch , lets say for any system NES, ( nestopia core ) Retroarch my audio is all out of synch and blownt out. Is there a certain audio device selection in retroarch menu i should change to maybe?
  19. Can someone help me, when I start a final burn neo or mame game I get a black screen. The input still works but it has a black screen
  20. When I apply the Aeon MQ7 theme onto my Playstation 1 playlist, the game title screenshot that is supposed to be present throughout the themes list views is not there. When I use the theme on different platforms however, the screenshots do show up. I have not tampered with the html file yet, and all my screenshots are in their default folders for my Playstation 1 games as I deleted and reinstalled all the media for this platform. I am guessing I switched some setting on launchbox that is giving me this problem, and I do not remember when or how I changed it if that is the problem. All my screenshot priorities in the options tab under tools have been set to default and the issue is not fixed.
  21. I'm trying to set up the Pause Menu in BigBox. I can activate it using my keyboard (I set it to the P key), but not my Xbox Series X controller. I tried setting it to the Share button, but nothing happens. I then tried setting it to Start+Back, but still nothing. However, the controller buttons I set are able to close the pause menu after it's open! This means it's just halfway working. I'm guessing it's some kind of window focus issue? Any solutions? BigBox is fully up-to-date, and I'm running on Windows 10.
  22. With my arcade setup, it is always great to be able to look at some gameplay footage prior to selecting my games. What tends to annoy me is that a great chunk of my gameplay videos in the arcade section (might be some in other sections) have these theme videos that show up on almost every arcade game I have on there. Is there any way to easily replace these sort of videos with just normal gameplay snaps? The picture attached is what I refer to as a game theme video; basically overlays over game footage. I'd like to do without that.
  23. Hello! I started setting up LB for the first time this week, and all but two of my systems have imported as expected. After I import Commodore 64 and Sinclair ZX Spectrum the copying of files and scanning for metadata goes as expected, but the platform is never created. I don't see them on my platform list or when I go to Manage Platforms. All the games are in my LaunchBox/Games folder for the respective platforms but there is no evidence of the platform in LB's UI. I have not allowed all of the metadata and images to download completely as I am importing several platforms and don't want to wait that long, could that be what is causing the issue? Like I said, these are the only two platforms I am having issues with, but I have not allowed any platform to fully download metadata and images yet. In my source folder for the ZX Spectrum roms each game has a folder of 5-6 individual flies but when I import to LB all files seem to get mixed up into a single folder. Does this mean that each file for each game is being recognized as it's own game? Do I need to convert each game folder to a single file of some sort before I import? Is there a way to tell LB to recognize each folder as a single game instead of each file? I have several filetypes in my Sinclair ZX Spectrum Games folder in the LB Games folder. .$b .asm .dsk .fdi .jsw .mgt .rom .scl .sna .tap .trd .tzx .z80 .zxs All of my C64 files are .tap. I have already ensured that I have a core loaded in Retroarch as the emulator for both of these platforms. Any help you can offer would be extremely appreciated!
  24. Hi everyone, I am having some difficulties with getting my X-Arcade Tankstick to work in BigBox. I have not long converted from Hyperspin, where the X-Arcade was self explanatory and a breeze. Though, unfortunately I am not finding it so here. I have gone to BigBox > Options > Controller > and ticked "Enable Game Controllers" and "Use All Controllers". Where it says "Device:" there is nothing there. Is that because these options only apply to an actual game-pad controller instead of the X-Arcade which is mapped as a keyboard? If so, does that mean in the options I do not worry about "Controller Buttons" but just "Keyboard Mappings" instead? Also, regarding controls, using Nestopia as an example. I have gotten to the stage with BigBox where I can launch Nestopia full-screen into a chosen game but have no idea how to exit out of the emulator back into BigBox. Is someone able to point me in the right direction? Because at least to me it certainly is not obvious how (I am probable just a doofus). I have found other topics in the forum here about the X-Arcade from years ago but there were of little help as they were from a time where LaunchBox/BigBox seemed to not have compatibility issues with the X-Arcade? Thank you in advanced.
  25. Admittedly stressing the program pretty hard, since I'm loading entire system libraries into it, but is there any way to cut down on the amount of disk usage and memory the program uses with large libraries? I'm assuming changing to list view would help a bit but anything else that I might have missed?
