  1. Hey, just sharing a quick tutorial because, I spent a few hours making this work. Basically I'm using Retroarch for most of my emulators and shaders. Especially the koko-aio crt shaders that are in my opinion the most immersive and realistic. The issue is that some consoles doesn't have a retroarch core yet making it impossible to add shaders. Fortunately someone called mausimus created an open-source app, ShaderGlass, which overlays any glsl or slang shaders on top of pretty much anything. Sounds fun, but it doesn't work as simply as you'd want. Here's how I made it work : 1. First you need a working Xemu emulator configurated. 2. Now let's modify some Xemu parameters : First, under Display tab, you need to disable fullscreen and fullscreen on startup : A little further down the page you'll want to set the display mode to Stretch and set the aspect ratio on Native : 3. Now you'll want to install the latest stable version of ShaderGlass from their official GitHub : https://github.com/mausimus/ShaderGlass/releases You can then import any missing RetroArch shaders like the missing koko-aio that are fullscreen : Set the input mode to Clone : Save your setup as a custom profile, call it something like xemu.sgp : 4. Now in Launchbox modify your Xemu emulator and remove the -fullscreen flag in the command-line parameters. Should be looking like this now : 5. Now, still in LaunchBox's Xemu emulator options, replace the Running Script by (update paths accordingly) : WinWait, ahk_exe xemu.exe WinWaitActive, ahk_exe xemu.exe Run, D:\LaunchBox\ThirdParty\ShaderGlass\ShaderGlass.exe -f D:\LaunchBox\ThirdParty\ShaderGlass\presets\xemu.sgp Sleep, 1000 WinActivate, ahk_exe xemu.exe WinWaitActive, ahk_exe xemu.exe WinWaitClose, ahk_exe xemu.exe WinClose, ahk_exe ShaderGlass.exe Basically what it does is simply : Wait for Xemu emulator to be ready Run ShaderGlass fullscreen with your profile Give back the focus to Xemu so that your controller works When Xemu end, exit ShaderGlass You would think it's done but unfortunately you still require borderless gaming to get Xemu fullscreen without being actually fullscreen. Otherwise your shader will clip on both sides and look like this : 6. Install the legacy open source version of Borderless Gaming which is still working great up to this day on Windows 11 : https://legacy.borderlessgam.ing 7. Add Xemu to your Favorites which means it's going to fullscreen window the app automatically : 8. Check Run on Startup under Options dropdown. Now everything is automated and working! You might wonder why I'm not using ResizeRaccoon which does the same thing? I tested it and it's working if you're not using BigBox as Windows shell instead of explorer.exe. In my case I'm shelling bigbox.exe so Resize Raccoon doesn't work because it's a system tray only app. It would be great if the dev fix this but I don't have time right now to raise an issue on their Github. It would be best in the future because it's open source compared to borderless gaming which is now paid. By the way this is working perfectly in BigBox. Enjoy!
  2. Hi all, Ymir is a young in development Sega Saturn emulator but already has some very appealing features. I have been using it often recently but have been unsatisfied with how Saturn graphics render at 1080p without some sort of scaling or filter. I read a post by the author in Github saying that internal resolution scaling and shaders features will be implemented soon but until then I think this will do the job 😃 This is a mini tutorial/instructions on how to use Ymir in conjunction with ShaderGlass in Launchbox, to have access to tons of shader effects for Sega Sautn games. I did not see any specific tutorial so I did a bit of research and trial and error and I am sharing here the results. With this method both applications will be started when launching a game and closed together at the end. First of all of course have your Sega Saturn isos (chd, bin/cue, whatever), Ymir emulator and ShaderGlass setup wherever you want. I put ShaderGlass inside Launchbox/ThirdParty directory. You don't want Ymir to go fullscreen because in my testing it wasn't working well with some shaders, in particular MegaBezel (my favorite). So remove any related command line in emulator settings in Launchbox (-f). Then setup the following options in Ymir video settings: - Force integer scaling: enabled - Force aspect ration: 4:3 - Full screen: disabled - View, set video scale to: 3x - The window will be larger than the monitor at 1080p resolution but it will be scaled down trough ShaderGlass. I know it's not 3x internal scaling, just a view scale, but to me the final result is looking better than 2x at 1080p. In Launchbox setup a running script. I used the script for the Xemu emulator from this post and modified it a bit: This is what I am using: I'm not explaining it in details since it is already done in that post, only the addition that I made to make it working with Ymir. Create an sgp profile in ShaderGlass for Ymir choosing the shader of your choice. The problem that I found here is that choosing Ymir window as "Input, Window" in ShaderGlass couldn't be autmated in the script because Ymir is updating the its window title constantly. You can still setup the emulator in fullscreen and choose "Input, Desktop" in ShaderGlass but, as I said, I wasn't always satisfied with the results. The solution that I found was to create the following Auothotkey script "renamewintitle.exe" and run before everything else: It basically renames Ymir window to "ymir" every 10 ms. Setup "Input, Window" to "ymir" in ShaderGlass and you're good. Also you can crop the window in ShaderGlass to cut the Ymir menu. I use 24 pixels from the top. If anyone has a better or more elegant solution please share. You can change the shader in ShaderGlass in real time with the hotkey (default keyboard "n"), experiment and find which one you like. Enjoy! 😄😁✌️
  3. Alternative Frame for ArcCabView BGFX + how to configure your own frame View File For the purpose of bezel reflection in MAME, ArcCabView is a GODSEND, but I always thought the frame was too thin and too light when using Lights Out bezels.... so I made a wider darker one! The screenshots showcase the frame using different bezels. artwork and bgfx folders go into your MAME directory, overwriting two files: ArcCabView.json and frame.png (⌐⊙_⊙) How to use your own custom frame so it lines up properly with the game screen (using the default ArcCabView preset): 0. If not already installed, download ArcCabView_MAME_BGFX_Chain_2.2d and extract into your MAME directory (probably backup artwork/bgfx and bgfx folders in case you want to revert changes) 1. replace frame.png located in mame/artwork/bgfx/chains/ArcCabView with your custom image 2. load up a game in MAME, then press `/~ (onscreen display hotkey) and adjust Frame Size X, Frame Size Y, and Corner Size so the game screen fits the frame to your liking. 3. Exit game, and open the .cfg file for that rom in mame/cfg 4. Also open the ArcCabView.json file in mame/bgfx/chains/ArcCabView 5. find the adjusted values in the .cfg file and copy them into the .json file. The values in question are highlighted in the image below: 6. Save the .json file. 6½: Optionally, repeat steps 1-6 until satisfied... 7. ಠ_ರೃ P R O F I T. I don't see a lot of mentioning of ArcCabView here, so maybe some MAME users will find it to be a decent (or more subtle) alternative to Mega Bezel Shaders for Retroarch, which I use for other platforms anyways. I'm just very attached to MAME for arcade... Submitter d66dle Submitted 03/11/2025 Category Platform Bezels/Overlays

Soqueroeu TV Backgrounds Backgrounds for Mega Bezel Shader on Retroarch ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: This new package requires updated Retroarch versions (1.9.8 or higher) and Shader Mega Bezel pack V 0.9.097 (2022-01-05 Rev 2) or later. ------------------------------------- This is about my original TV backgrounds for use in conjuction with HyperspaceMadness Mega Bezel Reflection Shader. I think lots of people would be pleased to play old games using an actual CRT TV, so I created my own project as a nice way to have a simulated TV… INSIDE your actual TV or monitor. Believe me, this works pretty well! Please consider my work with this project as complete. New backgrounds may or may not eventually appear. Feedback is really welcome. I hope everybody enjoys SOQUEROEU – Mega Bezel TV Backgrounds! ----------------------------------------- What is SOQUEREU - Mega Bezel TV Backgrounds? My TV backgrounds are meant to be used with Retroarch. They are not conventional screen overlays: included presets automatically load configurations for Mega Bezel Reflection shader to obtain maximum retro-feeling. In fact, they are designed to work as an addon to the shader and cannot be used standalone like standard overlays as they don’t have any trasparent region for tube. Why? My idea is to develop special backgrounds to be used while playing close to big screens. Taking inspiration from other designers projects, I started creating my own backgrounds in Photoshop featuring simple TV images. They are intended to as little space for the image tube as possible, bringing comfort for those who play close to big screens. Users may find several spots to improve my work, after all I’m still tranining my skill with graphical tools! Btw, I tried to develop a wide variation of colors and shapes, so they wouldn’t result repetitive. I hope people will enjoy playing games and customizing their experience with my assets. What is Mega Bezel Reflection Shader? This is a collection of special shaders with lots of customization possibilities, as well as beautiful real-time tube reflections! They were developed by HyperSpaceMadness, with feedback from many people who like old games. In my opinion, this is one of the biggest contributions to the retrogaming emulation scene. Requirements Retroarch 1.9.8 or later with simple presets enabled. Slang shaders previously installed in your Retroarch (download from Retroarch’s update menu). Shader Mega Bezel pack V 0.9.097 (2022-01-05 Rev 2) or later. Features (v2.1) All backgrouns 16:9 @ 3840x2160 (4K) png format; Day and night presets for a comfortable experience (Night need normal preset for reference); No need for additional advanced preset adjustments; Flat and curve screen presets (NEW); Some graphics have color variations (NEW); Generic graphics for systems without their own TV (NEW); Added Nintendo Wii 16x9 preset (NEW); Added Sega Dreamcast preset (NEW); Systems included: 3DO Atari 2600 NEC PCE Super Grafx NEC PC Engine NEC PC Engine CD NEC PC Engine Duo NEC PC-FX NEC Turbo Duo NEC Turbo Grafx 16 NEC Turbo Grafx CD Nintendo Famicom Nintendo Famicom FDS Nintendo GameCube Nintendo N64 Nintendo NES Nintendo Super Famicom Nintendo Super Game Boy Nintendo Super NES Nintendo Wii (4x3 and 16x9) Sega Dreamcast Sega Mark III Sega Master System Sega Saturn Sega SG-1000 Sega CD Sega Genesis SNK NeoGeo AES Sony Playstation Sony Playstation 2 (4x3 only) To learn more about Mega Bezel Shader, please visit HSM's Forum Libretro page . ------------------------------------------- How to use these backgrounds? This guide assumes that you already use Mega Bezel shaders. It means you must have the Mega Bezel shader pack previously installed. If you haven't used these special shaders yet, look for additional information further down in this document. These backgrouns are in 16:9 @ 3840x2160 format. Presets will always use the Standard version of Mega Bezel. Please note, there are no presets with Advanced parameter in this package. Shader presets use relative path. You can then unzip this pack to any folder from the Retroarch root folder if you wish. If you choose a location other than this guide, consider the locations you determine to find shader presets. 1 - Inside the downloaded .zip you will see a folder called Soqueroeu-TV-Backgrounds_V2.1. Unzip this folder to Retroarch/shaders/ 2 - When a game is running, load a shader preset. Find presets in one of these directories: Retroarch/shaders/Soqueroeu-TV-Backgrounds_V2.1/presets/TV-Console Retroarch/shaders/Soqueroeu-TV-Backgrounds_V2.1/presets/TV-Console-Night Once applied, a shader preset might look like this: NOTE: Some shader generated bezels are combined with a bezel built into the graphic. If you want more freedom to create your own bezel, you can use "solid" graphics available for some of them. This may require editing the file paths in the preset. Beginning Users if it's your first experience with Mega Bezel Shaders, here the complete instructions: 1 - You must have Retroarch 1.9.8 or later (you will not be able to load in previous versions). 2 - You will need Slang shaders previously installed in your Retroarch. Download them from Retroarch's update menu. NOTE: You will only be able to see the Slang Shaders in the Retroarch download list if video drivers is set to Vulkan. It may be necessary to save changes and restart your Retroarch. 3 - You will need Shader Mega Bezel pack. Find the links on the MegaBezel page. 4 - If you have previous versions of Mega Bezel installed, you need to delete the old shader pack. Do not overwrite files, this can cause crashes. 5 - After downloading Mega Bezel pack, see inside the .zip there is a folder called bezel. Copy this folder into the following directory: Retroarch/shaders/shaders_slang. 6 - After downloading the TV Backgrounds pack, inside the .zip you will see a folder called Soqueroeu-TV-Backgrounds_V2.1. Unzip this folder to: Retroarch/shaders. 7 - Open Retroarch and go to driver options (Settings>Driver>Video). Set the video driver to Vulkan. It also works with GLCore, but seems to be faster with Vulkan. 8 - Still in Retroarch, go to Settings>Video>Scale. Set integer value scale to OFF. Set the screen aspect ratio to match your monitor, for example 16: 9. 9 - When a game is running, load a shader preset. Find presets in one of these directories: /Retroarch/shaders/Soqueroeu-TV-Backgrounds_V2.1/presets/TV-Console /Retroarch/shaders/Soqueroeu-TV-Backgrounds_V2.1/presets/TV-Console-Night Note: A shader preset can take between 5 and 10 seconds to load. On first use, small stutters may occur when navigating through the parameter menus. The loading time can also be a little longer. This happens because the shader is caching the changes. Wait and trust! 10 - If any background appears upside down, access the shader parameters and modify the Flip Viewport Vertical option, in the [FLIP & ROTATE] section. 11 - If you want to change shader parameters, you should know that MegaBezel offers several customization options. Once you have desired result, you can save preset to Core (active core), content directory or whole system. I recommend you save by applying to platform/console folder contents, as each system operates with different display resolutions and a customization may present unwanted results for some other core. IMPORTANT: When saving a preset, make sure you have the Simple Presets feature set to ON. This will save a preset that has a reference to the preset you loaded, along with any parameter changes you made. This is what will keep your presets loading correctly when the shader is updated in the future. Have a good time!
  6. Hi, I'm very happy with LB and a lot of time and effort are spared by the automatic import and save settings. Especially if you are new in retrogaming, like myself. At the moment I have pretty much setup all systems and roms the way I preffer. Including the proper artwork, control configs etc. There is one thing I can't get to work and I was wondering if you guys can help me out. With emulating SNES/Super Famicom games, I prefer to use the SNES9x libreto in RetroArch. The problem is I need to change the video output from "gl" to "vulcan" for using *.slangp shaders. If I want to save the video output, which is needed because RetroArch needs to reboot to make the changes stick, I'm getting the message that changes has not been saved because of "overrides". How can I override this overrides? or is there an easier or better way to test this slang shaders? Cheers for all the help!
  7. SOQUEROEU TV Backgrounds View File Soqueroeu TV Backgrounds Backgrounds for Mega Bezel Shader on Retroarch ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: This new package requires updated Retroarch versions (1.9.8 or higher) and Shader Mega Bezel pack V 0.9.097 (2022-01-05 Rev 2) or later. 8. I know how to add the handheld border shaders through RetroArch like the GBA one which was included in RetroArch's initial download or shader update here: I find it much more enjoyable playing like this. Though I want to be able to add ones that I have downloaded like this Atari Lynx one: Problem is it does not have a .cfg file, it just came with the following:The .ini just has the following information in it: I know the short answer to this would just be to create a .cfg file, but I have tried and not succeeded. Has anyone done this before and if so would someone be so kind as to walk through it together and then hopefully others may benefit from it too. I have searched but have not found any tutorials or discussion detailing exactly this. Also, one more question. For systems that one may be using the same core like gambatte_libretro.cfg for the GB and GBC but wish to have different custom configure in order to have a different handheld border shader if you copy your gambatte_libretro.cfg in the RA config folder and name it to something like gambatte2_libretro.cfg will it show up in the RA UI options? Thank you in advance.
  9. hi guys i got one questiona about shaders , does anybody know about shaders like crt.geom but without crt? I mean shader just for changing geometry of corner? thanxs
  10. I recently bought a Sony 4k tv. After hooking up my pc with bigbox on it, I noticed all of my retroarch games were running at half speed. I fixed this by changing my crt shader from royale to zfast. I am alright with this change except when it comes to my Gameboy games. I miss playing them with the Gameboy borders. Is there anything I can do to get all of these shaders running full speed, or at least the Gameboy ones. Thanks for any help!
