Hi , I am new to this platform , I need to know the flow of working with it and Unity Engine , I just installed the connector , what is more and how to test everything in a simple way ?
Hi there @mostafayahiagoblagames and welcome to the NVIDIA developer forums.
What kind of connector are you referring to exactly?
In terms of Unity there are lot of Beginner tutorials available, I would start looking for those within the Unity community first.
Thanks!
Unity connector , I downloaded it , it only has , export-import-live sync options
I made some search I got that there is a launcher I need to install that will make me have all advanced feature like Digital Twin , but then I read on the website that it becomes deprecated on October , so How to Go on ?
Thanks for the follow-up.
You are talking about the Omniverse Launcher and Unity connector, right?
We have a dedicated Omniverse team that should be able to help you.
ok thanks , how to mention them ?
Hi there and welcome. You are posting in the “depreciated” area of the forum. This area is now closed. We no longer support any connectors, or Launcher. All gone. However, you do not need any of those any more. Just import and export USD files, and fbx if you cannot. No need for Launcher, Nucleus or connectors. Just simple file open. So you workflow is just, work in Uniity, (although I would not recommend) and then export to usd or fbx. Then open in USD Composer. But since Unity and Unreal are both “engines”, you are much better off going back to first principals and go back to your master modeling software like Blender or 3dsmax and just importing your models directly into USD Composer, and just forget Unity altogether. It will just slow you way down. Import your raw model into USD Composer, even without textures, and do all the work in kit. Materials, lighting, cameras, animation, rendering.
If you need more help please post in Latest Core Platform/Kit App Template / SDK topics - NVIDIA Developer Forums
OH that was a big comment
But actually it is not for me , it is one of my clients requirements , cause he is looking for features Omniverse provide like , Digital Twin , so I though I need to start learn it from starting point till I can achieve that , Am I on the right direction ?
All you need to start is here on our Github page.
NVIDIA-Omniverse/kit-app-template: Omniverse Kit App Template
For the new Kit versions, you have to use our “kit app template”. You have to do a small amount of building to use it, because we are moving to a developer focus, but it is easy.
Follow these instructions (for windows, but Linux is similar. Follow alone at GitHub - NVIDIA-Omniverse/kit-app-template: Omniverse Kit App Template)
1. Download "git" from https://git-scm.com/downloads
2. Start a windows command console by using running "cmd" from the Windows Start menu
3. Navigate to where you want to install the kit app template folder
4. Copy and run "git clone https://github.com/NVIDIA-Omniverse/kit-app-template.git"
5. run "cd kit-app-template"
6. run "repo.bat template new"
7. select the “USD Composer” template
8. You can answer NO to the Application Layer, unless you need streaming.
9. run "repo.bat build"
10. run "repo.bat launch"
Sorry to bother, but has the connector been deprecated? If so, how can I achieve real-time synchronization? For example, when running a game scene in Unity and object A moves, I want to preview it in USD Composer in real time. This doesn’t seem like something that can be achieved simply by importing/exporting USD, right?
The connectors have been depreciated. We do not support any gaming workflow. If you have a scene in Unity, why are you trying to port it to Omniverse?
The feature I most want to achieve is live sync, similar to how the Unity Connector was used to connect to Omniverse in previous documentation and video tutorials. Now that the Connector and Nucleus Workstation are deprecated, what approach should I take to achieve a similar effect?
We only support Live Workflow through Nucleus, which is now Nucleus Enterprise on our www.ngc.nvidia.com website. We have made the development stack free for all users, if you register with NGC.
