UE 5.7 DLSS 4 Unreal Engine Plugin - status update

Hello Community!

Here we go again :D

Unreal Engine 5.7 is officially out and some of us were really waiting for this update. Some of us are also depending on DLSS 4 Plugin but once you upgrade you can experience compilation issue.

So, as happened in 5.5, i think is a good idea to contribute and help everyone move forward.

I’m working on the fixes, so if any of you has any update and want to share it feel free to do it here.

It appears the api changes in this release has been minimal, i am not 100% sure of a specific change about the DrawInGame in the Streamline library. I guess Epic team wanted to simplify a lot so the secondary RHI_RAYTRACING check is useless now. See here.

I created the Github repo so you can check out the changes i made.

i couldn’t package all the plugins (but they compile by project) because of intradependencies of the plugins (this happen when you hit package plugin from the editor)

Any word on when the update might get released?

paolofalomo! like clockwork, you come through in the clutch. thanks again for taking the time to do this and give us a holdover until nvidia finishes up the official 5.7 version! you rock!

Hi @paolofalomo , thank you for sharing this as usual!

I copied your changes and try to compile v8.2.0 and it successfully compiled with StreamlineDLLSG Framegen working.

Then I retried to compile v8.3.0 too, and just like you said it seems missing some source file from Nvidia. So I try looking missing source file in v8.2.0 and copied them to v8.3.0 and finally it successfully compiled too!

So now v8.3.0 also with working StreamlineDLSSG Framegen, I tried packaging my project both in Development and Shipping mode and can confirm it’s working on both, (though I could only test Framegen 2x since my GPU is RTX4080S).

I’m not sure about if there’s performance or bug though, but initial test it seems behave exactly in 5.6.1.

Here the files if anyone want to test it, like usual so we could still work on our project while we wait for official version from Nvidia. I hope they updated soon!

PS. I put all DLLS plugins in my /ProjectFolder/Plugins/ instead of /EngineFolder/Plugins/Marketplace/

Thank you very much! It’s good to see contributions coming from other members of the community.

An important note to whoever will be downloading this plugins: there might be the need to recompile the plugins directly from the IDE (eg Visual studio or Rider) to make it properly work.

i’ll be summoning @MarkusHoHo that might have some insight for that.

I think the release will be faster then the last time bc they wanted to upgrade from DLSS3 to DLSS4.

It kills me how long it’s taking for the official release to come out. At this rate, 5.8 will be released a day or two after the DLSS 5.7 plugin is official.

With all of the BILLIONS of dollars that NVIDIA has at this point, you’d think they could afford a couple of people to take some time and update this plugin in a reasonable time frame. This happens with every new version.

But sadly I do not have any news at this time. It is worked on, no ETA yet to my knowledge.

Amd has already updated to 5.7 why is Nvidia always way behind on dlss update. compared to amd,s outstanding speed lately, there about to win me over lately becouse im tired of nvidia ignoring thire customers like we dont matter. If you think customers dont matter then why waste our money on you? So a few qustions wich will be shown to all social media and sent to news places also. Qustion is Should i get a amd card so i don’t have to keep waiting 6 months to a year to update to the latest unreal engine version? Or is nvidia going to finaly step up. Nvidia Staying silent and not responding and not giving us a valid justified reason and promise that its not going to keep taking 6 months to a year for a official Nvidia dlss update of nvidia dlss plugin ignoring this post me and others keep asking is nvidia openly admitting that they are ignoring and purposly delaying dlss support to developers. Ai is not that great and cant replace what humans can do. If ai is you’re only focus and game development is taking a backburner with nvidia then nvidia is officialy ashamed of its long time fans and ashamed and choosing to start forgetting where it came from and who has kept and still keeps nvidia in business wich is us game developers and our huge fanbases. So let us know nvidia so we can all decide wethere to take our cash over to amd and inform our fans that nvidia no longer cares about thire customers and refuses to keep updated on thire dlss technology therfore delaying games by neglecting thire dlss technology. because we can use fsr with AMD cards and not wait for 6 months to a year to update, So whats the excuse this time billionaire Nvidia? And are you going to take 6 months to a year yet again for what should be already done?

I find it very absurd that every time we have to wait this long. Considering that it is now mandatory to support DLSS, it should be ready the same day the engine releases. I mean, it is open source and they can work on the preview for sure. We are talking about the most valued company on the planet, do they have an intern working on it? Too busy on AI I guess, fine, great tech, but I wonder what’s gonna happen when the bubble pops, I guess taxpayer’s money will come to the rescue, like always

As much as we all hate the fact that it takes Nvidia months to update DLSS…we need to remember that PC gaming/GPU’s are not Nvidia’s bread and butter anymore. They can literally stop making PC gaming GPU’s and it won’t even hurt there income. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen any time soon.

But yes, DLSS updated would be nice…especially since others are already doing so with similar software. Cheers!!!

If that’s the case, they should literally break the PC Gaming/GPU off as a separate business that focuses entirely on this genre. Kind of like how XBox is it’s own business branch from Microsoft.

Something needs to be done so NVIDIA isn’t updating its DLSS for gamers with 1 employee who only works weekends and has 300 vacation days a year.

Just an information, Nvidia just released the 5.7 version of DLSS 4.
Maybe sometimes they need time to polish some features before releasing it, to avoid many issues.

So please be patient and don’t update your projects to the latest UE release at day 1 of the release before all plugins used inside them have a new release supporting the latest UE release. Even if it’s annoying to wait from big companies to have them.
