Thor Flash Fails Consistently via the ISO on USB

Greetings all. I have two fresh out of the box Thor dev kits and am trying to use the ISO via USB method of installing the BSP on them so we can start using them. (The ISO: https://developer.nvidia.com/downloads/embedded/L4T/r38_Release_v2.0/release/jetsoninstaller-0.2.0-r38.2-2025-08-22-01-33-29-arm64.iso)

I have gotten this far before things fail:

[...] Installing many packages, wait for 15mins..
start: subiquity/Late/run/command 16: curtin in-target – apt purge -y unattended-upgrades whoopsie
finish: subiquity/Late/run/command 16: curtin in-target – apt purge -y unattended-upgrades whoopsie

finish: subiquity/Install/install: Command ‘[‘systemd-cat’, ‘–level-prefix=false’, ‘–identifier subiquity_log.2188’, ‘sh’, ‘-c’, ‘curtin in-target – nv-update-initrd’]’ returned non-zero exit status 127.

An error occurred. Press enter to start a shell

This happens consistently. Getting the actual crash file from the device will be a little harder but I can try to do it if this really is something that is brand new, never been seen before, and is not recreatable.

Thanks!

Peace!

PS: I eyeballed the text in the preformatted section, so if it disagrees with the image, just go with the image – no need to tell me I screwed it up. 🙂

Sorry for the late response.
Is this still an issue to support? Any result can be shared?

Of course - it seems that no one has replied as to what the cause of the specific non-zero exit status is or if the issue is “brand new, never been seen before, and is not recreatable.

No indication that any support resources have even seen this post, let alone try to look into it. How do we get something like that going?

Thanks!

Peace!

Hi,

Please ensure following the step-by-step instructions provided in the official guide:
https://docs.nvidia.com/jetson/agx-thor-devkit/user-guide/latest/quick_start.html.

Some users have reported issues when using headless mode, so we recommend using the monitor-attached mode instead.

Additionally, we strongly suggest setting up a native Ubuntu environment and using the SDK Manager to flash the Jetson AGX Thor.

Thanks.
