Welcome to the Jetson family. I’m happy to help you with setting up your Jetson Orin NX.
While the Jetson Orin Nano and Jetson Orin NX share many similarities, there are some differences in their setup processes. I’ll outline the similarities and differences to help you get started with your Jetson Orin NX.
Similarities:
- Both Jetson Orin Nano and Jetson Orin NX use the same Jetson Linux operating system.
- The setup process for both modules involves flashing the operating system, configuring the device, and installing necessary software packages.
- Both modules use the same Jetson Linux Toolchain and Development Tools.
Differences:
- Hardware Configuration: The Jetson Orin NX has a more powerful GPU and CPU compared to the Jetson Orin Nano. This means you may need to adjust your power settings and thermal management accordingly.
- Memory and Storage: The Jetson Orin NX has more memory and storage options available, which may require different configuration settings.
- Expansion Headers: The Jetson Orin NX has a different expansion header layout compared to the Jetson Orin Nano. You’ll need to consult the Jetson Orin NX documentation for specific pinout information.
Setup Process:
While the overall setup process is similar, you’ll need to follow the specific instructions for the Jetson Orin NX. Here’s a high-level overview of the steps:
- Flashing the Operating System: Use the Jetson Linux Toolchain to flash the operating system onto your Jetson Orin NX. You can find the necessary files and instructions in the Jetson Linux documentation.
- Configuring the Device: Configure your Jetson Orin NX using the Jetson Linux configuration tools. This includes setting up the network, configuring the display, and installing necessary software packages.
- Installing Software Packages: Install the necessary software packages for your project using the Jetson Linux package manager.
Resources:
To help you get started, I recommend consulting the following resources:
- Jetson Orin NX Documentation: The official NVIDIA documentation for the Jetson Orin NX provides detailed information on the module’s hardware, software, and setup process.
- Jetson Linux Documentation: The Jetson Linux documentation provides information on the operating system, toolchain, and development tools.
- Jetson Developer Forum: The Jetson Developer Forum is a great resource for asking questions and getting help from the community.
Conclusion:
While the setup process for the Jetson Orin NX is similar to the Jetson Orin Nano, there are some differences you’ll need to be aware of. By consulting the official documentation and resources, you’ll be able to successfully set up your Jetson Orin NX and start working on your project. Good luck!

Hello @spravyuth,
Yup. It’s the same process for almost every Jetson out there.
NVIDIA made a great work standardizing the process.. only differences could be some changes in configuration options.
I would suggest you:
- Get a linux host machine.
- Download SDK manager.
- Follow the steps on SDK manager for flashing.
Once you get your board to boot.
If you need help installing specific packages, please reach out and we can give you a hand.
best regards,
