No viewport window error in isaac sim

i just started isaac sim and the viewport isnt showing anymore, i can add urdf files but none is shown. Anyone can help me?

@luca.radu.alexandru what is your hardware, OS (i think it’s Ubuntu?), and GPU driver setup? you could try uploading your latest log file in its entirety will facilitate the troubleshooting process. you can find it here:

Isaac-Sim log folder:

  • Windows - C:\Users\%username%\.nvidia-omniverse\logs\Kit\Isaac-Sim\2022.2
  • Linux - ~/.nvidia-omniverse/logs/Kit/Isaac-Sim/2022.2

i recently got this error. How do i change the layout cause im new to this

@Simplychenable
kit_20231012_232556.log (45.3 MB)

thank you but at load layout i dont know what file to choose

could you try downloading another OV app (like Composer or Code) to see if they share the same error report? and this is a spec from the log for the mods/devs:

usd composer?

correct, or Code found in the exchange tab:

it’s mostly for troubleshooters to see whether the error below is persistent across other OV apps:

[Error] [carb.events.python] AttributeError: 'ViewportWindow' object has no attribute '_ViewportWindow__viewport_layers'

At:
  /home/lukianovici/.local/share/ov/pkg/isaac_sim-2022.2.1/kit/extscore/omni.kit.viewport.window/omni/kit/viewport/window/window.py(172): viewport_api
  /home/lukianovici/.local/share/ov/pkg/isaac_sim-2022.2.1/kit/exts/omni.kit.viewport.utility/omni/kit/viewport/utility/__init__.py(118): get_active_viewport_and_window
  /home/lukianovici/.local/share/ov/pkg/isaac_sim-2022.2.1/kit/exts/omni.kit.viewport.utility/omni/kit/viewport/utility/__init__.py(165): get_active_viewport_window
  /home/lukianovici/.local/share/ov/pkg/isaac_sim-2022.2.1/kit/exts/omni.kit.viewport_widgets_manager/omni/kit/viewport_widgets_manager/manager.py(304): _on_update

and just to throw it out there, can you first try using the driver version recommended with Isaac Sim per the doc?
https://docs.omniverse.nvidia.com/isaacsim/latest/requirements.html#isaac-sim-driver-requirements

you can refer to the notes at the bottom for linux troubleshooting page should you need some directions on re-installing the driver via .run

everything loaded

okay. this reminds me of another user’s thread recently. can you try downloading Isaac Sim 2022.2.0? you can get other versions through the Exchange tab again, simply go into the versions drop down and choose ‘All release builds’ and pick the version mentioned here.

once new versions are downloaded and installed, the version that’s the most recent install would be set to default under the Library tab. you can swap between versions via the hamburger icon:

if OV detects that you have multiple versions of the same app downloaded, you then get to choose which version you’d like to launch with by ticking the checkbox at the end (i don’t have more than 2022.2.1 for Isaac Sim, so i am using Composer as demonstration)

ok its installing
thank you so much

and regarding the other user’s thread, he was able to launcher 2022.2.0 no viewport problems but had issues in 2022.2.1. so, naturally, i wanted to confirm if it’s the same case here. i haven’t see any resolution on his end, yet. so we’d need to get some assistance from the mods/devs at some point.

give my pc some seconds=_)

still getting the same error

and is this with the recommended driver for Isaac Sim?

yes
it is

by chance, was the ros_bridge extension turned on right before you are getting these errors?

not right before but the day after
i got ros2_bridge

okay, try turning that off temporarily to see if it fixes the viewport issue. there was another user that had issues with the ‘play’ or ‘start’ when ros2 extension was enabled/set to autoload:

if you need to review the ros2 installation, you can take a look at the doc here:

https://docs.omniverse.nvidia.com/isaacsim/latest/install_ros.html#enabling-the-ros-ros-2-bridge-extension

there was also a VOD of a previous livestream where one of the devs showed how to go about setting it up in case it is helpful:
