Jupyterlab fails to run from DGX Dashboard

When first starting jupyterlab from the DGX Dashboard, I typed in a working directory (/home/user/jupyterlab/test). I manually created the directory before hitting Start. I think this caused issues with the initial setup of jupyterlab. It immediately said “Error” with no information in the Output Log. I deleted the directory and tried to hit Start again. Now I get:
Error: [Errno 13} Permission denied: ‘/home/user/jupyterlab/test’. I cannot seem to figure out how to clear the Working Directory text box as it is remembered somewhere in the system, even after restarting.

How can I reset the DGX Dashboard and successfully setup jupyterlab?

Hi airish,

Jupyterlab will create the bottom level folder in the working-directory path. If the folder already exists you will hit an Error. If you want to use ‘/home/user/jupyterlab/test’ as your working directory, you will have to manually create ‘/home/user/jupyterlab` and then press Start so that it can make the test directory itself. The Permission Denied error appears when it cannot create the folder, probably because the jupyterlab directory also doesn’t exist
