JetPack installation issues

SDK Manager is unable to install JetPack Host Components. The following errors are seen:

I would like a fresh install of JetPack 6.2.1 on the Jetson AGX Orin. How can I do this?

Hi,

If you could access AGX orin, you can run the following commands to install the Jetpack components:

sudo apt update
sudo apt install nvidia-jetpack

Thanks!

Hi @prodriguez4,

I hope you are doing well!

One quick question, what Ubuntu version are you using on your host PC?

For JetPack 6.2.1, host-side development on Ubuntu 24.04 is not supported.

If you are on Ubuntu 24.04, I would suggest to switching to Ubuntu 22.04 and retry flashing with the SDK manager.

Best regards,
Nico

Hello Nico, thanks for your suggestion. I was able to flash after switching to Ubuntu 22.04.

However, the process was not very smooth as there were several failed attempts. SDK Manager kept losing connectivity to the Jetson through the USB connection.

The flashing is complete on the eMMC drive that I had and I am experiencing the USB connectivity instability issue as I try to flash the Jetson on a NVMe SSD that I installed. The drive is visible when I check lsblk.

I have tried to flash to the NVMe SSD with the USB-A to USB-C cable I used earlier, with a brand new USB-C to USB-C cable and with a very short USB-C to USB-C cable. I have tried multiple times today with no success. Would you have any suggestions to resolve this issue, please?

Thank you very much.

Try different host PC ports. Also, if there is a failure, and because USB is hot plug, try unplugging USB and replugging to get the process to continue.

I found out that while I tried several different USB connectors, all of them only supported USB 2.0 / 480 Mbps. I am trying to procure another that will allow for faster data transfer now.

USB2 is not an issue for flashing other than being very slow. Whatever you try with USB2 should at least work, even if it is slow.

I have tried all the USB ports on my host PC and dis/reconnected without success, so I am out of ideas at this point. For the moment I am using the eMMC install that I had previously done.

Using external media on a model with eMMC would work with the initrd flash. Check in the “Linux_for_Tegra/tools/” directory.
