HDMI port errors and abnormal monitor output - DGX Spark

Hello,

A problem has been identified with the display output of the DGX Spark, so I write.

The symptom is that the screen is outputted abnormally when connected directly to the monitor with the HDMI port.

I conducted some tests to check the symptoms in detail.
The test used two DGX Spark.
We refer to the problematic Spark as Spark (A) and another Spark as Spark (B)

  1. I tried connecting the monitor and HDMI cable to DGX Spark (A).
As a result, abnormal monitor output was confirmed.

  2. I tried to connect to DGX Spark (B) using the same monitor, same HDMI cable that I used for Spark (A).
As a result, we checked the normal monitor output.

  3. I tried connecting the USB c-type connector to the DGX Spark (A) and connecting the HDMI cable to the HDMI port of the connector.
As a result, we checked the normal monitor output.

After checking the above three tests, we believe that there is an HDMI Port issue or hardware problem with the corresponding DGX Spark (A).

Through these details, we opened the ticket on the customer support site and proceeded with the application, but we could not solve this problem.
( NVIDIA DGX Spark Support )

They (*they refer to NVIDIA customer support team) proposed several monitor connection tests, guided firmware and OS and GPU Driver updates, and proceeded accordingly, but the results did not change.
Additionally, they instructed me to run NVIDIA Field Diagnostics to see the results, but I didn’t even see where I could find the NVIDIA Field Diagnostics.

Finally, they informed us to contact the developer forum.
And they said that NVIDIA Field Diagnostics can be downloaded from the developer download site, but they can’t see exactly what link they can get it through.

How should I solve this problem?
Who should I ask for this issue?

have you tried unplugging your mouse and keyboard temporarily? sometimes, for some unknown reason, having mouse and keyboard plugged in pauses the OS boot

Thank you for your reply. The screen output is possible. However, it is not displayed properly and the entire image is distorted.

Can you explain how it is distorted? Have you tried a different monitor? Additionally, you can run nvidia-bug-report and send it to us so we can see how your system detects your monitor. You can find instructions to run here: *** If you have a problem PLEASE read this first ***

@hj.song can you do me a favor and help me with the following log collection?

With the problematic DGX Spark A, can you reproduce the issue with the HDMI cable, run sudo nvidia-bug-report.sh, and share the logs.

With the non-problematic DGX Spark B, can you light up the monitor with the same HDMI cable, run sudo nvidia-bug-report.sh, and share the logs.

On top of this, @hj.song would you mind also collecting logs using sudo nvidia-bug-report.sh on DGX Spark A with no displays connected? You can do this over ssh.

Report connecting display to Spark A

  • connectA

Report run without connecting.

  • noconnectA

connectA_nvidia-bug-report.log.gz (575.1 KB)

noconnectA_nvidia-bug-report.log.gz (566.3 KB)

Thanks @hj.song. Would you also be able to share the logs from DGX Spark B connected to the same monitor and working correctly?

connectB_nvidia-bug-report.log.gz (350.6 KB)
